Our representatives listen to organizations that contribute the most money . OOIDA can't compete with the larger organizations .

At Quality Carriers drop and hook would be at least 30 minutes because it requires a 15 posttrip on dropped trailer and 15 minute pretrip on hooked trailer .
Real PIA because we were sometimes asked to spot a trailer at a shipper after we brought an empty back in . Only paid $25 and went like this . 15 minutes posttrip of trailer brought in . 15 minutes pretrip new empty . Drive 10 minutes to shipper . Drop weigh and 15 minute posttrip empty . Drive 10 minutes back to terminal and 15 minutes posttrip tractor .
Here's the thing though . We could take the tractors home but they wouldn't let us PC from a customer . No real justification for that . The tractor could have been included in the 15 minute posttrip when the trailer was spotted .
We also had a customer 5 minutes from the terminal where we dropped loaded trailers . End of trip but we couldn't go off duty there . Had to bobtail to the terminal and do a posttrip on the tractor .
They said we couldn't PC from a tankwash but I did anyway . Not missing a good meal and wasting hours in the morning at a tankwash .

Unfortunately, there is a lot of truth to that, Rick. But is is surprising how they will sit up and take notice on stuff as little as a letter writing campaign. The average comments/letters a congressman gets on an issue is only 2-3. From what I have heard from some that have worked for congressmen, if they get 10 responses to an issue, they sit up and take notice. If they get 100, they start getting worried. Above that, then they realize their butt in on the line if they don't do something. It really doesn't take time or money for folks to write their people in DC about these issue we are discussing. I mean, email is free. Snail mail has gone up but still pretty reasonable. Anyone can fax their rep from any truckstop. I have sent numerous comments via emails to the hired help. I may start adding faxes to the list and double up to make sure someone sees them.

You got a gripe about all of this, then start gnawing away at the powers that be. Hound them with comments and positions so that they have to see what is going on. After all, this is how the anti-trucking groups do it. And we outnumber those characters. Or we can just bellyache amongst ourselves and cry in our beer over what is happening like we have been doing for so long now. Just please be reasoned in your comments to those folks and don't rant like you are at the truck stop. Try for once in your life to sound intelligent and persuasive. Otherwise, you may make the others side's case for them.

I did get my resets and didn't mind so much the time off. Other than the horrible stench of chicken ####. City posted no truck parking all over, so I had to sit at the shipper.

I was responding to someone saying we should log all time waiting at a shipper or receiver as on duty. If I had done that, then I would have been screwed.

Thank god someone with a brain. An Smart American,That uses the system as It was designed to work by are forefathers to keep us in democracy

A democracy is a form of government in which all citizens have say in the decisions that affect our lives as americans. We have the right.

If we sit around and do nothing. Than dont like the out come of the government decisions.

Then were no better than a dictator running the government.

We got to use our voice. We are a large group of american voters that have rights.

Use them, pick up the phone. If we do not say any thang or do any thang to show are discrepancy to the govenment body. Not to this form or Truck stop.To them.

They will do exactly what they want. Because we are letting them. we are.americans.

By the people, For the people. Heard that before.

Lets dont lose are rights as american. Too many have die for them.

    Freedom isnt just a word!

People should have spoken with their vote in November . Too many didn't and we have a President that only 30% of registered voters voted for .

Only 28.7% of the registered voters got out to vote for the Mittster. At least more than half of the voters got off of their dead butts to do something that day...

But the fact is we don't vote for the president. The Electoral College does. Those same Founding Fathers didn't trust us that much!

This worrying about who is president and who we voted for in that regard is almost wasted motion. It is the knotheads in the Legisalture that are the true problem. No president, Tricky Dick, Bedtime for Bonzo, The Bush Clan, Billy Bob, or Barry can do much of anything without congress behind it. Even if he does a directive to have an agency do something, the Congress can put crimp on their privates and reverse it. No agency likes to have its budget audited.

But, we have a bunch of yahoos in the legislature that either go along to outright support this nonsense. Therein lies the problem. 80% of the American people could not tell you who their elected representative is even if you held a gun to their child's head. With that in mind, you can figure that most folks barely know what is happening outside of their own lives. This is why things have gotten the way they are. We elected the foxes to guard the hen house.

Yep... and most of them are in protected, non-competitive districts, where they are almost always guaranteed re-election.
