Miles haven't been good, but they're not horrible either. Averaging 2500ish. Like Mustang said, lots of 600-1000 mile loads taking 3 days.

FWIW I spoke to recruiting about the IC program & they said current weekly averages are 2200 company & 2500 o/o

Time for nap for reals -- relay woke me up and presented me with an unsealed, unstrapped trailer missing one light, another burned out, & the tandems set illegally for CA... Thanks bud, -- makes me glad I sweated my ### off sweeping out my empty for you...

That's is excatley what is happening to us, we're getting short little runs where we sit on them for a day and half. We had a load we picked up in North Vernon,IN @ Lowes DC delivering to Ozark,MO 529 miles with 2 days on it, ask it could drop it early, nope can't deliver till Sunday, so we drop it Sunday afternoon, had 9hrs left on 14 get a load that picks up Monday morning 547 miles away can't deliver till Tuesday, asked if it could be picked up today since it was preloaded was told no. Last week was asked if we could grab a load and take it 200 miles up the road because the customer really needed it and we were the only ones in that area, told them yes but was short on miles really needed some, was told yeah we see where your miles have been low the last 2 weeks, we'll make it up to you if you can take that load for us. So we do because of 2 reasons 1. it's our job and 2. it's not like we could have turned it down. Get to the location deliver and was told sorry we have nothing for you but another 250 mile load, your in wrong freight lane but yet we've been kept in this freight lane for almost 3wks now. My husband has NO issue grabbing any load regardless of how low or high the miles are, what time it picks up or where it's going, the thing that bugs us the most is planners not being honest. Don't say one thing and do another, just be honest and say "Hey we have nothing your going to have to sit but we need you to take them load" that's all they have to do is be honest.

Way late in the game for them since the bigger players already have the market cornered. But it's $. Its cheaper to move trailers cross country by train.
There'll still be the need for team loads.
Single length of haul going down, but pay isn't going up.
Listen to hold music, we are told it'll mean more loads. From railhead to nearby customer. Can fo more intercity, local, and regional.
Itd the way of the future. Like dippin dots.
Even the railroads have tv commercial promoting intermodal.

On a personal opinion, I don't mind, or wouldn't mind the short miles local delv.
But $20 doesn't make up at the end of the week. Even running a bunch of them like in laredo just kills your logs.
Relays are the same. Not bad if back to back. Run 550 miles, take 10, then another load. Its the dwell time, cant make that lost time back.
There is money to ne made on intermodal, cartage, and regional. Drivers should be on that payroll too, not penalized.
Just my early morning without coffee thought
