I don't give the final test but I do pass students to the final. You run a redlight with me in the truck and I will fail you. No excuse, 8 years driving and not one redlight blown. It's not hard. Like you say though, there may have been other issues and the light is what broke the proverbial back.

The instructors that give the final test don't say much, they are not there to instruct at that point. You should be able to solo, that is the whole reason for the test.

No excuse for running a redlight at all.

Not reacting quickly enough to a yellow light is exactly what it was....I was not only in a construction zone with a bunch of blinking yellow lights to begin with but it was a blind turn to the light as well..I know there is no excuse but hey no everyone is perfect.

8 weeks is barely enough time to learn just enough to be dangerous on a flatbed
and automatics are much better then you think

you cant be too picky your first job
you need experience on your resume

If the guy was testing with me, and was a good driver, a blown red light would not be an automatic fail. What he has to say about it after it happened might fail him, but one single screw-up? Some of us here need to climb down from their ivory towers.

Most people I have ever met, in any company, who train drivers were a bunch of Fruit-Loops. They all have this superiority complex, joined with a need to show they matter by ruining someone else' day.

What I am reading here, is that if a new guy spends 6 weeks training with me in a truck, doing everything well, and showing an ability to learn, and a desire to improve, I should fail him for a single mistake? That is just plain nuts! Now it that guy has been told to slow down around curves 25 times, and still goes too fast, and constantly does other things wrong, then yeah, the red light would be the last straw. I have to admit I have been driving over 25 years, and only have run maybe 2 red lights ever, but still......circumstances have to be considered if a guy runs a red light by mistake.
