We bought it at the Volvo/Mack Dealer here in Chattanooga. Only a couple of trucks met my criteria of price/features/miles. There was an 09 780 in Seattle that was a bit better, lower miles, APU and had the I-Shift but it was $4000 more and my trailer was in Chattanooga. I have a friend who has a friend (lol) that will sell me a used Carrier APU and install it for $2500. So that is next months purchase.

    Wedge Thanks this.

Do you know who owned it before you? Was it a USX truck?

Well, first load with the new truck, Chattanooga to Seattle. 2500 miles at a fair rate. BUT...broke down on th SD/WY border. All of a sudden lost power. Anne pulled over and 15 seconds later the truck died. Engine turns over but will not start. Thank goodness we added towing coverage to our insurance. 70 miles back to Rapid City and only the $250 deductible. The dealer says they will rey to get us in but no promises. It is Thursday so I beg. At least diagnose the problem so if we need parts we will not be stuck for the weekend. He agrees to get us in that day. We head to the hotel, take showers then call a cab to head downtown. Find an awesome restaurant and war, walk around this very cool town and then the phone rings. It is the shop (2 pm) and the truck is done for $550. We call the cab, head back to the hotel to get our stuff. Tell them we enjoyed the $50 dollar showers and hit the road.
We are now in Seattle hanging with my Dad after meeting my Mom and oldest sister for lunch on their way to Wisconsin. Beautiful weekend in Seattle and we deliver on Monday morning. Then headed back to the SouthEast.

    NoCoCraig,
I think I have seen some of your posts on Central Refrigerated blog forum.
My co-driver and I recently graduated school and started driving for Central. However we are thinking of terminating our contact. We are looking for more miles on a consistent basis and more $/mile.

How is the work environment at USX? Would you recommend USX to up and coming teams?
Any info you could share would be appreciated!

    Thanks

We did very well at USX and enjoyed our time there. It sounds like you are leasing at Central. I strongly recommend against anyone leasing until they have more experience. You need to get your hazmat endorsement also as the pay is great and they have a large sign on bonus for hazmat teams.

Well, we are having a blast in Chattanooga....again. The truck is in the shop. A/C still having problems and there were a number of other issues like the truck going into regen about four times a day. Killing our fuel mileage also. They say everything but the A/C is fixed and they are trying to figure out what is wrong. We really want to get moving but the dealer is doing the repairs for free. They have certainly bought my loyalty and our next truck will be purchased at Worldwide Equipment. No complaints, love the truck and it is awesome to drive. We made more in two weeks than we ever made in a month as company drivers so sitting is not killing us. Hopefully fixed today and back to 7.5+ mpg. One mile a gallon difference in fuel economy means almost $2,000 dollars more a month in our pocket.

Great spending time with the grandkids and our work family at Farm2Fleet. Love these guys but they are a really bad influence. I can no longer proudly say "I have never done karaoke" lol

Hope the AC gets fixed soon, regen is a big problem with the ISX engines.
Usx sent out a message today saying hazmat teams getting over 18,000 miles in a month
get a monthly bonus equal to 70 cpm. Wow guess the new hours of service are killing the teams
and USX is really having to change the pay structure to keep teams at the company.
