can anyone tell me what a 2004 international 4300 26' straight truck weighs? i drive one and a couple of weeks ago it had trouble pulling out of our dock loaded ( fine unloaded) and i think i might have been over weight or pushing it. i was hauling 9 pallets of newspapers at around 1200-1500 apiece. you guys think i was overweight? btw, love the forum, looking to get cdl soon to leave my crappy job.

there really isn't anyway to tell you that
    without knowing all the spec's
but I bet a cat scale would tell you

There are dozens of possible configurations and each would yield a different Gross vehicle weight rating. Does it have one drive axle or two. If only one, there may be a good chance you may have been over the technical gross weight limit set by the manufacturer based on how it was spec'd. A lot of companies spec straight trucks to allow non CDL holders to operate them, and these have a fairly low GVW rating but we have no way of knowing what you're driving. Look on the door for a GVW rating and/or on the registration paperwork and you should find an empty weight number somewhere on the registration. Although it may not be entirely accurate.

Ok thanks. Single axle, dt466, auto :(, with air brakes. Liscensed at 26k for that reason you stated. Normally the heaviest ones are in front between axles for stability and weight. If it is over can I get fined? Guessing so. Btw, do a lot of company's consider this exp? We don't log since I'm within 150miles.

If you on occasion run across any open DOT weigh stations, yes you could be fined if you are in fact over stated gross weight. Some companies will consider that work as experience towards a trucking job, however it won't be given much weight because I suspect you are not operating throughout numerous states and are not getting log book experience and subject to USDOT rules and regs but that will be better then working a call center job as far as experience goes towards a trucking job. Best think you can do is not get any tickets for speed or over-weight or other such moving violations. These will certainly make it difficult to move on to new trucking jobs.

All right. Thanks. Been doing it for two years so far and no violations/tickets even in personal vehicle. There's this one company by my house that gave me a number to a guy that will train me for $250 and then just rent their truck at 150 a time I believe to practice and take test. Should be about 1100

You are close to your gross or maybe over. 10000 net+tare=26000gross. Your tare is somewhere around 14-16000. Only the scales really know.

as people have stated it depends upon the spec. I own one and also have rented a variety from penske and budget.
FRP boxes weigh considerably more, can easily tare over 16K with some gear and a passenger and full tanks.
a lightweight cheap box and you're more down into the 14K range give or take. There's a good chance you where over weight.

I don't have to worry much anymore, stopped driving and sticking with the job I did there b4 that. They didn't want to pay me what they were paying new hires with little to no exp and I was doing it for them for 2 years. I thought I was getting cheated so I refused to work more for less.
