Costco employs 357 people per store, and Walmart employs 477 per store. Now, Walmart could lay off 528,000 people, and pay their remaining people better, if that is what you prefer. However, I think if they did that, there would be a huge outcry for those half a million people losing their jobs.

Frankly, it is comparing apples and oranges. I cannot go to Costco and buy my razor blades, they don't carry them. There is a lot of things that I can't buy at Costco, because they are not a grocery/department store. Walmart is. Costco employees make more money because their job is more labor intensive, just like Home Depot. A lot of the jobs at Walmart are fluff, but necessary fluff as their type of environment requires more employee presence than a place like Costco. Short of going to the front and asking for someone, try finding someone to help you in a Costco. They walk by you like you don't exist, because they are too busy moving mdse.

We know it is the "in" thing to hate on Walmart, as everyone hates the big dog. However, what that has to do with being happy that you got a job at Walmarts private fleet is beyond me. Walmart is a trucking job that many aspire to achieve, be happy for him.

And this has what to do with working for their private fleet??

You do realize that the private fleet is their own company, right??

Why on earth would start a thread on a truckers forum about working at a store? Yes my thread says "Walmart here I come!" Wait let me go back JUST FOR YOU and make it this: Wal~mart Transportation LLC, here I come!......oh that's right, I can't.

You know, I'm really REALLY sick of hearing this crap all the time. Here's the FACT...Walmart can LEGALLY do what they want. They provide jobs (1.4 MILLION in the U.S. ALONE!), one of which my wife has, and guess what? NOBODY FORCED HER TO TAKE THE JOB!! WE CLEAR YET? If she, or anyone else is not happy with their employer, their pay, their working conditions, their benefits...THEY CAN QUIT! Simple as that! The unhappy Walmart associate is more than welcome to find the nearest Costco (which would be much more difficult compared to finding a Walmart) and apply for one of those awesome fantastic in-Walmarts-eye jobs moving around 2,000 pound pallets of junk. Oh, while we're here, lets not forget to discuss all the Chinese merchandise. Who's fault is that? Try Bill Clinton and NAFTA for starters, then add to that all the scumbag companies that took advantage of that and moved their operations overseas. You couldn't even find enough American made stuff to fill a 7-11 let alone a Walmart. Walmart gives millions of families the ability to eat every day, clothe their kids, buy school supplies etc...has anyone bothered to compare prices at Target? How about the 6 KMart stores left? Pure ignorance.

    Hey drozzer!

I have enjoyed your thread. I am going to Sealy for an interview tomorrow morning. Reading about the path you and now NYVET have taken to get hired has been enlightening.

My process thus far has been the following:

May 21 2013: Applied online for opening at Sealy, TX.
June 28 2013: Received call from Jeremy in Bentonville. Scheduled interview for July 15 2015.

I will be interviewing with Kay Murphy (HR) and Paul Petersen (GTM) in Sealy, so I am sure those are familiar names to you. :)

Congrats TomofTx! Yes both Kay and Paul are wonderful people, very laided back. I will be at Sealy tonig
ht to switch trucks and I am sure they will have a load waiting for me tonight or in the morning. What time is your interview? Make sure you get there early. Since you have been reading, you know what to do. Nothing negative about current/past employeers. On the pre trip, check everything. Road test, drive at safe distance, goal on your backings, and tell safety what your doing, seeing, following distance. All goes well, ill see you in August/September when they start your class!

Congrats on making it thus far. The waiting sucks more than anything else! The time drags on until the last day or so, then it's like a roller coaster as it picks up speed...been waiting 3 months for this, seems like a year, but I just arrived at my hotel and start orientation tomorrow. Good luck and welcome to what is hopefully your last job (planning on it being mine!)
