2 min per day * 30 days per month is 60 min. If your time is worth $30/hour, you just paid the monthly cost of an elog. (different companies have different rates, but there are some for less then 30) If you drove 60 more miles a month at .50/mile, that's what it really cost you. (you might not make .50/mile, but i do, so time is money lol)

That gets done on my 11 hours off so it does not cost me anything the way I see it, If it was stopping me from driving then your argument would stand. I can write my mileage down off my odometer cruising down the interstate just like you can push buttons on you gps or eobr

I use my hands free headset to "safely" record my mileage while driving. It's actually quite effective, also free, and easy

and another thing I don't work 30 days a month, more like 18 or 20, sometimes even less, depending on how bad I want to go fishing that week. LOL

I would rather have the trained monkey than an EOBR, at least then I might get an intelligent conversation.

    MNdriver and DrtyDiesel Thank this.

OK, so you see OOIDA as the answer, while I don't. (I didn't when I owned my tractor/trailer and I don't care for them any more now.) Point taken.

I don't choose to run an EOBR neither the Fed nor the carrier asked for my opinion, it's simply a requirement, just like consenting to a drug test and or utilizing specific PPEs in customer areas. Are the regs fair? Hardly, but until they change they are what they are.

    PS,
I think you're confused or are wearing a tinfoil hat if you actually believe an EOBR can shut your truck off.

    PPS,
HOS has never-ever required a 7 day break. Sure a 7 day break would give you a clean 70hr slate, but you never had to wait 7 days before you could get back behind the wheel.

I have no idea if an EOBR can shut the truck off or not, since I have never had one. My neighbor drive's for Wiley Sanders and he tells me that his will shut off, but I never been in the truck with him to verify that, and don't want to.

I was just being sarscastic about the 7 day's off thing, but I remember it was worse when it was 10 and 10, the extra hour driving helped out a lot in my opinion.

No I don't see the OOIDA as the answer to everything but unless someone has a better plan that has weight in Washington it is all we have from the way I see it. Some voice is better than no voice at all.
