International Trucks SUCK, for several reasons:
#1. Air Horn. A one inch square button, placed in the middle of several other buttons on the steering column. Not only is it impossible to find in the event of an emergency, but embarrassing (for myself, and dissappointing to the kids) when trying to show off for the kids who request a honk (thank you so much poindexter for screwing up a great thing).
#2. Mirrors. For some reason or another the douche bags in corporatesaw fit to limit the power windows so as to prevent my turning them out enough to avoid blinding brights coming up from behind at night. Thanks screwballs.
#3. Power Windows. Every time I hit the button to roll the window down, it sees fit to CONTINUE to roll down, forcing me to take a second look, rolling it back up to where I wanted it, rather thanstop when I let off of the button. Ridiculous . They better hope I dont get into an accident because of that stupid "feature".
#4. Radio. No, lets not light up the radio at night. Lets just assume that by not lighting the radio, the victom (er, I mean the trucker) will just give up, rather than spend precious contration FEELING AROUND for the right button (while some douche bag blinds me from behind!!!)SCREW INTERNATIONAL! I will NEVER waste my money on a piece of junk like that!
    My advise? Get a Kenworth!!
    John.

Most power windows on the drivers door have the FAST complete roll down even GMC , likely you only drive the truck and not own it and as for KW they have faults as well.

No one is making you drive it. If it upsets you that much then park it and go find something you like. You been a trucker for a whole year. I know I'm going to base my buying decision on your advise. Even the worst trucks now days are 900 Studios compared to those of just a few decades ago. Go drive a cabover w/ 5 and 4 or Mack thermodyne with some weird tranny and come back and tell us about you IH. LOL

You are making a mountain out of a molehill on the power windows. The way to get the window to stop at precisely where you want it is to double tap. Tap once to get the mirror moving, tap again to get it to stop. If you don't double tap, it will go all the way to the bottom.

For the radio, my 2013 is back-lit. You may have to go to the menu screen on the radio and turn on the lights. Granted, it is still not great, but mine is certainly lit. The easy fix for that is to get satellite radio, plug into the AUX port and then you don't have to worry about what the receiver screen is doing. I like the radio controls on the steering wheel. I have never had that feature before and it makes it nice not to have to leave the steering wheel to adjust the volume.

You wanna talk issues, talk about the MaxxForce engine. A huge steaming pile of dung as far as I am concerned.

Agreed, although it is convenient to leave a thumb hovering over the button when in city traffic. For the kids, I use my other arm to pull an imaginary cord while pressing the button (though the factory sound is pretty girlie
Never noticed a problem with bright lights compared to other trucks, but I wouldn't mind more lateral range on the passenger mirror for blindside.
Quit smoking? But in all seriousness if you dont press all the way down on the switch it will not auto-down.
Brightness is awful, but the volume/channel switch on the steering wheel makes up for it.

Amen brother ! Most of our fleet is International Pro Star with Maxxforce under the hood . We can't keep them on the road !!! They are pretty decent WHEN they run . Keep sending them to the shop over and over and over again to fix the same thing (egr valve ) ! I think we are up to 3 different recalls since March 2012 they have had now . The older Int. with Cummins run great but if you count on 1 truck to run to make your money , Pro Star Maxxforce is not for you .

Doh! If only I'd read this post last year!

Just as an aside, does Kenworth make a harvester?
