So I'm studying the Hours of Service Logbook Examples provided by FMCSA (here's a link http://www.fmcsa.dot.gov/documents/hos/logbook.pdf). Under Example 16 & 17 there are 2 example's for "16-Hour Driving Window". It states in the explanation that it is only available to certain drivers & not all. Can someone explain in layman's terms who it applies to and how it works. It's the only 2 examples out of 33 that just don't click for me. It probably doesn't apply to me but I want to have somewhat of an understanding so that I am that much more knowledgeable.

Its for drivers that start and end there day at the same place everyday. I have a friend that uses that, but you can only use it once a week.

From my understanding and I am still a new fish, it only applies to people when everyone runs less then 150 miles from the terminal and returns home every night. They also don't have to keep logs but still have to track hours. they are allowed two exceptions per week for the 16 hour window. When i delivered for Fed-ex Ground over the holiday we followed that. the scanners tracked out hours and we didn't have to log but we had to follow the 70 hour work week but no logs it was tracked in our scanners. so basically if you are required to keep logs it doesn't apply

I just heard a term I never heard before. What exactly is AG EXEMPT? Is this where truck drivers who drive for FEMA are expempt from hours of service laws or what?

I'm pretty sure that's an exemption for agriculture.
