and as for the repairs that get them stopped for an inspection. maybe they need to learn to be a mechanic. or learn to make more money so there balance still goes down while making those repairs.

sammons can't help those that are unwilling to help themselves.

your price rate for 8 tires sounds like recaps. i'll take virgins any day. they last WAY longer then recaps. specially in this summer heat.

you'll go through 2 sets of recaps through one set of virgins. $5600 for 2 sets of recaps vs. $3800 for virgins that will last as long as 2 sets of recaps.

Nope, not recaps at all. 4th truck owned and I have never purchased a set of recaps, not even for the trailer.

Hmmm, I have read this whole thread and am no closer to a decision than I was when I first started my inquiry. I am currently a company flatbed driver, I have 2+ yrs exp. in civilian flatbed and 3 yrs military. I currently bring home $700 - $900 per week after taxes and insurance. And yes I get home every weekend. I would like to have my own truck, but if I can't make what I make now or more per week L/O, it don't make sense to change. I have a wife and four children to care for. Anything less would kill us. I talk to drivers who are L/O and the ones I have spoken to are making twice what I make after truck, insurance, and taxes. SMH. Sammons doesn't seam to meet my needs. Are there any other L/O programs that can?

    Why not ask them?

Chances are they are straight leases or lease purchases that have huge balloon payments at the end. You have to look at each of the lease programs carefully to see all the pluses and minus.

Schneider has a variety of lease, lease/purchase, and purchase programs you can look at.

My question for the Sammons guy is, I havent read the whole thread yet so sorry if this has been answered already, will Sammons help with training for heavy haul?

I have 10yrs experience on flatbeds and covered wagons hauling metal and loaded aircraft in the military. When I was trained to tie down...well anything on the deck...I was taught the load can never be too secure and when in doubt throw another strap/chain. Heavy haul and oversize looks very interesting.

I am currently in PA are you leasing in the north east? I primarily want to run not the north east, been here my whole nearly 20yr career.

You sorta work your self into the heavy haul. The more oversized you do the bigger we let you do then you get on a list for an rgn and work with that then a bigger trailer and so on. As long as you are comfortable with what you are doing and safe about it we'll work with you.

For the benefit of those, like me, who are considering your company...You mentioned a 10% down with a fixed payment option.

Can you contrast this option versus the 26/74% split using a $16000/mo gross revenue to the truck using a $50000 truck with an average MPG of 6.5 based on 10K miles a month, including all fixed costs for a typical flat/stepdeck lease. For this example please use a length of term for 10% down option of 260 weeks. This wont include any breakdowns or other issues.

Also with the 10% down option is there a penalty for early pay off?

Do you offer a buy in for medical insurance?

Basically I'm looking for a sample profit/loss statement to compare both options.

for a p and l just plug your numbers into the spread sheet on our web page http://sammonstrucking.com/spreadsheet.aspx.
We have never found a medical product that we would endorse. There is never an early payment penalty.

So if I did the spreadsheet correctly, I changed the MPG to 6.5, miles driven to 120K and left all the other numbers alone.

For the 10% fixed payment option, I left the $1200/mo truck payment that was already filed in alone. The final number was about $77000 income to the truck.

For the lease purchase, I changed the truck payment to $0. The final number was about $91000 income to the truck of which 74% goes to pay for the truck.

    Is that correct Sammonsrecruiter?
