My body has puzzled doctors ever since I was born dead. Numerous times in my life I should have been six feet under according the experts. They all said I wouldn't live past the age of 20 most likely. 2 times I have had a priest start to read my last rites. However, here I am still kicking without any medication. So with that being said, I don't think some sugar water is going to kill me. Thank you for the concern.

I know we are big macho men because we are truck drivers but if we can't talk about the real issues in our industry like mature adults we not contribute to the thread.

I grew up in the industry. My family has operated a trucking company since 1940. My swing set was between the office and the shop on the yard. I have seen the industry change a lot. The biggest change in the industry in immature drivers like a lot of the one posting on this thread.

Truckers use to work together. Trucker use to have a culture that was great.

Driver use to talk to one another. Help one another. Dine with one another.

We use have groups showers. I personally do prefer the private ones.

We use to eat family style at the truck stops. I think there is only one place like that left and its up near Bangor, ME. I use to love that. I would go on the road with my dad, granddad, or uncle and sit down at a long table with 6-8 other drivers. We would eat, talk, and joke around.

Now a days you can't hardly get a driver from the same company say hi to you on the fuel island.

Next time you are at a truck stop see how many driver's will let you sit at the same table as them. I use to do it all the time. You would be surprised at how many let you, and how many cool people you meet and things you can learn. That's old school trucking!

And by the way trucking does have a very high rate of depression and suicide, that is what this thread was about!

It is a very sad change in human interaction that has evolved in the past 50 years. However it isn't only limited to our industry. It seems to be that the more technologically advanced we as a society get the further and further away we get from traditional civilized communication.
