    HHG=zip code to zip code
    Practical=point A to point B via some type of mapping program such as Google or Map Quest

    HHG is basically town to town. Like if headed west, west side of the town you are leaving, to the east side of the one you are reaching.

    When i was on practical miles my pay was between 1-2 miles short to 2-4 miles over actual odometer miles, I was short haul and for the most part a lot of my runs were right on or paid for more miles then I drove......

    Both Google Maps and Map Quest show a lot of secondary roads trucks can't use.

    Paying antiquated but billing modern off highest possible number. There should be a way we can take the loss....and I suppose we do in maintinance .........

    You are paid less, so you get to take it by reduced income.

    With today's technology, they know the exact real miles the drivers put in on actual truck routes. This isn't the 60's anymore.

    The excuse that they're just using an old system doesn't hold much weight. When the Swift lawsuit was granted class action status, several companies switched to the actual, driven miles instead of HHM.

    It is theft, plain and simple and the nickel and dime-ing the driver adds up. It will cost me $1,200/year.

    Do they have fuel stops they want you to take that they do not pay for the extra miles too?

    Most companies pay mileage from zip code to zip code and not all miles driven.

    I wouldn't say most. Maybe most starter carriers. I've worked for carriers that used ProMiles software. IFTA accepted these miles and the drivers didn't have to fill out the forms showing mileage in each state. Does IFTA accept HHG miles?
