the key to making money moving RVs is good MPG, with right one ton you can average 14 mpg, a semi will never do that, also as stated before most companies won't lease semis on.

Why do you log sleeper berth as off duty? Makes no sense and seems like an avoidable log violation waiting to happen.

Neither any DOT officer nor Mercer has ever had a problem with it. Show me where I have to log sleeper berth.

There is a reason. The hitches have warning on them about being pulled by certain size trucks.

Now, with the bigger 5th wheels, I could see them doing it. But, you have to wire for rv's and their plugs and electric brakes.

Thats right, my 3500 dodge always gave me 13+mpg.. but at the end of the year (100k miles later) my truck was worth almost half of what it was brand new.
Get a dodge ram mega cab. Youll be able to fit a mattress back there and will have a drive around vehicle for when you're not working

You must get easy going happy go lucky inspections every time. That's falsification. I heard we've got a few drivers who do the same thing. Just don't understand what the trick is or why? If you don't have a motel receipt for 10 hour "off duty" rest breaks DOT can say it never happened and gotcha. Form and manner infraction at the least. Why expose yourself to the possibility?

With the changes in the logging back in February last year, this is not a problem. He can state he was off duty or whatever. They cannot do a thing about it.

Nor can they do anything about these guys hauling RVs with their pick ups, then sleeping in the truck for their 10 hour off duty break. You don't need a sleeper, but they had better log off duty ;)

Learn something all the time. I think I'll stick to logging it sleeper anyways. These LEO's are notoriously all over the place on what regs are same as drivers.
