Most profitable tanker companies 4 owner operators

What do the prospects for a company driver look like out of the Pittsburgh terminal for Miller Transporters? Will work and home time not that important. 30 years plus experience and about 5 of that OTR. 52 yo and kids all grown and through college. Pretty much want to live on the road.

Been interested in their company for many years. Talked with their drivers several times over the years. None ever said anything bad about them. Going to try them out as company and then maybe lease purchase if all goes well.

Do you work all over out of that terminal or is it a lot of PA to the east coast?

I run all over out of that terminal. Im in texas right now. will be picking up a load mon morning headed back to Sandusky ohio then back to Pittsburgh to run a dedicated load so I am home for the weekend and can go renew my twic card on Monday. We have runs going all over out of Pittsburgh. as a company driver you will do alright. they make good money but you go where they want and do what they want. as a owner op or even going thru their lease purchase you do what you want. some guys will say they aren't making any money as an owner op here but they don't want to run either. I treat it as a business and don't wait for them to call me with a load. im always calling the different terminals and their central dispatch asking what loads they have available and what they pay. I treat it as my business and stay proactive. its the only way to do it. they aren't going to hold your hand you have to take care of yourself. im not sure if they will let you be a company driver then switch to lease purchase. I know the company drivers down south cant because they are union. the company trucks out of Pittsburgh are not union so you might be able too. the union drivers are not allowed because of their contract. they are not allowed to work any job that talks work from any type of union or they lose their retirement

 

If you are a us citizen would it not be better to have a united states passport instead of a canadian one

Does anyone have any recent info for the Nitro, WV Miller terminal? I received a call from them for the tractor purchase program. I am just curious about how the runs are out of here. The recruiter called and asked me how I would like to run otr instead of doing the dedicated stuff. Can someone tell me which is better? I do have both TWIC and Passport. Thanks.

 

OTR only out of Nitro. "Dedicated" means you come back empty for a measly 4% additional revenue which doesn't even cover the fuel to deadhead back. The guys from Nitro I talked to when I was with Miller didn't go back to Nitro until they wanted to take time off. Having said that when none of the out of town trucks will take one of the dedicated runs and you are the only local truck there guess who is going to take it?
