I thought those things had a 5 yr warrenty per EPA?
GATS, when is it this year and do they have a decent parking area there/ was thinking of going, I usually miss it -
On the Landstar online website there is a link that has the info about the event and free admission. According to the GATS website there is free truck parking and they also give good truck route directions to it.

Ok. So hubby and I are pre approved (finally) and will be leaving Panther tomorrow. Since I have discovered these threads I have read them constantly. When I can't sleep my hubby would find me reading all of the updates or threads I haven't had a chance to read yet. Good stuff!
I see that one of the golden rules is to get everything you agree to in writing before accepting the load. Does that also apply to rates for detention, layover, etc.? Or is that discussion had at the time the detention/layover/unloading or whatever happens? Seems to me once its on your truck (or even when accepted) all negotiating is out of the window. To ask for something after that means there is no guarantee you'll get it. So when and how is this done? And does LS set the rates we get or do you set your own and that is what you ask for?
The other questions is about team freight. I don't see much discussion about that. Is there any from what you guys/gals have seen? I think there is still money to be made taking a solo run and moving the dates/times around. But what about team required or needed loads?
I also what to take a moment to thank you all for the information you have posted. Between these boards and a LS driver we met who took the time to say and show there is money to be made at LS was the push I needed to make the jump. All of your info is greatly appreciated. -
As far as rates everything is open to negotiations, Make sure you cover your bases on your rate confirmation line haul. fuel surcharge stop pay, tarps layover detention ect ect, most agents will work with you, we do have our HUMPS here and a few bad apples youll have to weed through them.
As far as team runs yes there are atleast on the platform side, I see them quite often and a lot of GOV freight,
Don't know much about van stuff ( cant think in the box!)
Might want to try the grouchy oldman from NY (landstar8891) or OZR they been doing the van thing for a while
GOOD LUCK -
My wife and I usually move solo van loads. Sometimes the agent moves up the appointment, or we just take it easy.
Why leave Panther? Will you do expedited with LS? -
so how is flat doing for landstar im looking to git outa the rat race at Malone I have sat for 2 days in a good area for them and its just gitting to often

Talk to SHC Pinebars. He lives over in NW Indiana and pulls a flat at LS. He seems to do very good.

The wife and I run team. We pull platform freight and do pretty well. Nice thing about Landstar is that you can make ur own team freight by loading a 1000 mile run and delivering it the next day most of the time. We are a AA&E team and are certified to do TSA loads also. Many of the best team runs break late in the day and as others have said, you can sometimes negotiate a better rate for a load that absolutely has to go.
We know several people who pull van freight as a team and they do well also. We do have some accounts with UPS and FedEX that are dedicated team runs too.TMJ777 and russellkanning Thank this. -
Did anyone here attend the WebEx about CARB today? I attended the 1430 one and I was wondering about that 1K mile provision. Why would they need your hub reading at the beginning of the year then at the end to calculate what you drove in California? How do they keep track of what you did in other states unless CARB is going to use the IFTA reporting. If that was the case then why don't they just look at what we reported to IFTA for our CA miles?
It seems that a lot of people are going to find a way to augment their miles to fit that provision as long as they are not doing a lot of intrastate loads. Also the CARB rep said in the beginning they will only be able to check about 1% of the trucks on the road. So I guess with a little luck you can wait a little longer or either report to CARB and say that you are using that low mileage provision.
