The employer usually does the training in house or sends you to a training facility.

I think its the OSHA 10 hour general industry and H2S would just be awareness training. Unless your going to haul oil with high h2s then you would need SCBA training. I don't know the cost. Most will train you theirselves. I know the adds say its a requirement but usually they mean you must be able to pass it or have the ability to take the training. I personally would not work for a company that wanted me to pay for it prior to hiring on. Sounds like a scam. I've seen company's have 20 plus hands take the OSHA training on the company's dime. It's like your Hazmat and DL. Company's reimburse you for it. Or the stand up ones anyway

I looked into it before I left Missouri. The H2S you can do online for $35. The OSHA 10 is a lot more expensive. I think it was $185 or maybe it was $285 I don't remember but it's a class and you have to sign up and wait for the next one in your area. I just decided if they want that, they can pay for it. Also it was mostly ND jobs requiring that. In TX I haven't heard anything about it.YET.

BTW, you're from Missouri? What did you finally settle on down there in TX? -
I am in Corpus Christi and I just got hired at Sun Coast hauling crude. They like to call it condensate. Also down here they call those straight tankers they use to deliver fuel to construction sites Bobtails. It's on a lot of job aps and I was wondering what the heck they meant. Different lingo down here and half the time they mix Spanish and English in the same sentence.

Thats a link for a Google search for "on line H2S training.
Looks like there's a basic course for $35, and then some others which are more elaborate. I'm guessing that the $35 course is probably useless for hiring purposes. It probably tells you stuff you could find in a basic internet search.
Chibob: Have you asked Sun Coast about this? Might be worth investigating and passing on the info. If the $35 course satisfies requirements, then I don't see a big problem with paying for it myself. It would be just another thing I could offer to a perspective employer to make me stand out from the crowd. -
360training.com has the OSHA10 course for under $80.
