OMG, are these morons in CA have been waiting for gasket from FL?! Thats really ridiculous. ) Bravo, KW service, way to go!

So both times you encountered DEF dozer failure, right? And since that time (9000 to 41000 miles) you have not had same problem?

    Thanks!

I'm still looking forward to getting my Pete 579 and hoping for a minimum of problems with it. For what it's worth, I got a notice from Peterbilt that my truck, and all others scheduled to be built with their "crossover exhaust," were immediately being changed over to receive the right side, under passenger side door exhaust aftertreatment set up. This notice was from Peterbilt Corporate directed to my dealer who forwarded it to me. There was no reason given for this change, but one can only assume that it was to put these components closer to the turbo outlet and higher exhaust temps in order to improve their operation and reliability.

Hope is good thing, but I think you should order couple of gasket and dozers in advance. :biggrin_25525:

Yes, I wait for gasket from FL. At that time KW +Cummins had 4 gaskets in USA(1-Omaha,NE,3-in FL) and 5 of them in Canada.
Since that time I have not had same problem.

Oram, dont give up on the 6X2 idea yet as Kenworth sure didn't....They developed the Advantage truck using the Spicer Econotrek 6X2 in conjunction with the Bendix eTrac which uses the ABS info to shift the weight of the load to the live axle when wheel slippage is present by dropping the air in the tag axle. There are several modes auch as auto, manual and so on but the system will shift the load back once traction is obtained or over 25 miles an hour in case the operator forgets. It looks very promising and 2-4% savings have been seen with as high as 5% at times. Of course it saves almost 450lbs on setup and with this system, there is less excessive wear on the drive tires, though I am sure more frequent rotation is still in order. Anyways, it is a setup that when combined with wide tires all the way around will reduce friction, weight and increase MPG. Of course this setup is only cost efficient when specing a new truck but I am definitely looking at.

Freightliner has a system that does the same things . We are taking delivery of 4 this month. Ours are coming with lockers for the drive axle. Hoping for some good numbers!

It is over for me already, and let's wait a couple of years to see how all this new electronic stuff will stand. But eventually it will work and save fuel.

It may work with simplier setup in flat areas, f.e. Phoenix-Dallas, or Minneapolis-Laredo. In rocky and snowy areas I think its not good idea to give up second drive axle and/or diff lockers.
