It's true. The less miles one drives, the less money one makes. Most of the time. Today, i would be hard pressed to get over 2000 miles a week. Why? Set in my ways. I am available from 6AM to 10PM. As it gets darker in the fall, those hours change. In other words, i am a daylight driver. Sun goes down, i find a parking place. Today, one must work on a 24 hour clock to max out one's miles. To arrive at that 121,000 mile plato, today, would be a 24 hour a day thang. Anything less and one would fail to merit that raise. HERE IS THE QUESTION. Whatever the color of your truck is, does the owner of that truck want to hold me back to under 2000 miles a week? Shucks no. All owners want each truck to max out on miles. Every day. 365 days a year. Most of the time, it is the driver who, for what ever reason limits the miles. When i got a load that had 2000 miles but seven days to deliver, i would bust my butt and no later than the 5th day, early, i was knocking on the receivers door. Fresh shaved, showered, clean clothes, and a smile with my hat in my hand saying, PLEASE. Did it work? most times yes. Same thing for a 400 mile 4 day run. So, does Crete hold a driver back? Same answer as any other color of truck. NO

    mje and skyviper73 Thank this.

Where do I sign up???? or do you think INTERSTATE DISTRIBUTORS is better? what about KNIGHT , SWIFT, STEVENSON? I say that because I know many people around the planet who would sell their soles (SOME WOULD EVEN SELL THEIR SOULS) to have that kind of income. But, i guess as we get older, we want it easier on our bodies and feel we deserve extra for having waited so long and gone without and more for our sacrifices including time, comfort, and freedom.
Annnnd, i guess it depends.... figuratively speaking: it depends on the gun on your head.....for the higher I.Q.'s: specifically you'd look at other factors, like if the gun on your head is ####ed or not, what kind of gun and bullets it is, who's finger is on the trigger, how thirsty/hungry you or your assailant are, what the weather conditions are, are you indoors or outdoors, does anyone where glasses, how many are involved, left handed or right handed? etc. etc etc.....basically it depends on whose got a hold of your cojones and how thick the rope around your huevos is...... Anyways...... Then again, if you're spoiled and stupid like me and if no one forced you into the debt you're in now, you always want more!!!! even if you're half educated, even if you have no graduate nor professional degree, no vocational specialization, and never went thru apprenticeship nor learned a trade, never made an effort to, and/or let the economy decide your faith. You want more!!!! dont get me wrong, I do believe truckers deserve it a whole lot better - but as long as We The People keep the system of running things the same way it has been for the last 100 years, we're always gonna get not enough sugar, not enough salt, not enough ice cubes, and never warm enough. So as long as we vote for strangers and other people to vote for us.....jobs gonna get done good enough only for the Rich to get richer and stronger to gain power. The way it should work is: you want a your roads fixed? then you gather your neighbors, find out whose got experience in construction, then you go get the machines, tools, and material from the government and fix things....But that is true Communism, we dont want that right?. So, unless someone does more than just promise me that Am gonna make more, as long as I can still show $45k /per year gross income on my W-2 with 49 to 77 full and true days off per year and less than $300/month for med/vis/dental/cdl legal...... am good ! Where do I sign up?.... cause am sand hauling for the oil fields and am getting paid the same without the rest of my conditional conditions. Schneider Team Driving was awesome, it met those conditions plus more......until i mved out of San Bernardino and ran out of co-driver choices (45 days to 6 month verbal contracts).
Sooooooooo, Where do I sign up???? or do you think INTERSTATE DISTRIBUTORS is better? what about KNIGHT , SWIFT, or STEVENSON? I got to pick one, the one that has the best parking lot - laundry - showers - nationwide facilities - laxed dispatch (cause i'd rather put 1800 mi/week for 10 years rather than 2700mi/week and have my cdl taken away for some unsafe and/or illegality.

I was with Crete 18 years. Crete was a really good company in the '90 's. Of course, the industry has changed for the worse in general.

I drove for Crete from September 1995 to November 2010, it used to be great, thought I'd retire there, then the decline
started. Load choice went away, long loads disappeared, couldn't get a load over 500 miles, office personnel used
to at least act like they respected the drivers, toward the end it got to be where you could tell that they couldn't care
less about us. Had to leave, but I'm doing fine at US Foods. My best year at Crete I grossed just over 70k, stayed out 3-4
weeks at a time, at US Foods I make over 70k working 4 days a week. I still appreciate Crete, they gave me my start
in trucking, provided for my family well for 15 years, Crete just changed too much for me to stay so I left.
