I started with Lisa/MTC ( division of FFE ) back in the late 90's and for a starter company they were good and I stayed for 3 years before moving on. During my time with them I have run into many FFE drivers and none of them had anything good to say about that company. I can see that 15 years later from this post and others that FFE has done nothing to improve the way they operate and treat their drivers.

KLLM DID buy FFE. Not once have I heard anyone deny that. In fact, there have been numerous posts about it on Peoplenet, not to mention press releases. The official changeover is November 4th. Right now, things are definitely changing at FFE, and there is some confusion and disorder, which is to be expected. Some local drivers have lost their jobs. I'm sure they were offered a chance to go back to OTR or LTL, but they declined. I can't say that I blame them. For people with families, going back on the road would be a hard choice to make if they were already home every night.

If you look at this forum, for every positive thread about a company there is a negative thread. The only exceptions to that are CR England and Knight; I can't seem to find any recent positive threads about either of them.

I admit I am a little nervous about the switch. Rather than wait for November 4th, I have chosen to speed things up and move over to KLLM before that. I figured I might as well do it now before the rush. I talked with a KLLM driver two days ago when I was in Lancaster. He has been with KLLM for 8 years and he said they have lots of freight and he has no problem making money.

I have heard, and seen, that their trucks don't have APU's or Opti-Idle. If you want the A/C or heat to run, you high-idle the truck. That can get pretty expensive if you lease. I already have an FFE truck with Opti-Idle that I am leasing and I have no plans to trade it in. It also has a heater that runs without the engine running.

I post pretty regularly on this forum. If will make sure to post what happens during my orientation and my first few weeks with KLLM.

I guess since I sidetracked this post, I should comment on the OP's post. I would also be extremely irate if I rode Greyhound from Atlanta to Jersey only to get a filthy truck that no one knew anything about. I will never ride Greyhound again. I'm pretty sure that if Hell has bus service, it's run by Greyhound. If you can, try to see if MegaBus goes to the city you are going to. I know they only go to major cities, but their buses sure look better than Greyhound's.

KLLM did not buy FFE out. There is a bigger business that owns KLLM, and they purchased FFE. both companies are owned by another party. And I will not make fun of his, err, grammer. Promise.

They are owned by the same holding company that owns KLLM. There is some difference in that arrangement, at least until they decide to merge the two.
