That is an excellent article.

I tried this recently with a company .... "lease" operator .... really had no choice .... they gave you 2 weeks to decide .... they did away with all company drivers
Figured it was something that I wanted to do anyways .... so gave it a shot .... in 2 months I lost my rear BIG time .... they didnt have the freight and what they did was CHEAP
In 2 - 3 weeks time I did over 1000 miles deadhead for loads on my dime .... its something that I wont do again .... back doing company driver and will be .... the way this economy is .... the price of fuel and everything else .... it just aint worth it

The price of fuel is a big expense, but at the same time, a blessing. it will rid the industry of low ballers. As. it's done in the past. Plus, well, see above. gotta know whats whats worth. But, then again, got my own #"s, I know I need to make $1.285 per mile (even at todays rate) to pay everything plus myself, which I do based on 25% of haul rate.
And still able to show a profit on the llc. Go figure. All I am saying, is "It has been done before, Is being done now, and Will be continuing to be done in the future" If thats the sign of NO $$$$$$$$, Count me in.
