I discovered an ad looking for drivers to haul oversized loads from everete,wa to wichita,ks and back and was interested in but was thrown off a bit cause it mentioned they buy you a new truck of your choice but it must be an automatic not "chromed out" and the pay was $400 a day for each day driving and $100 a day if you sit even if it's during home time. Does this sound correct to anyone who works there or who has worked there? It described too that under this contract that you would own the truck after 5 yrs of service with them and could make the purchase for 100$. If this is all true, what is your opinion of this and would I stay busy on this route? The ad was on craiglist but no contact information, only to reply by a annonomis email address. When I researched the description on the internet it sounds like it's through smokey point dist. I'm not for sure though. If anyone could please give me some insite on this it would greatly be apreciated.

Haven't worked there but with the two cities listed it sounds like it aircraft components going between Spirit Aero Systems and Boeing - more than likely structural pieces for 737 and perhaps the ####pit section of the 787 I think is made there as well. Maybe that information will help you dig into it a little more. I think more info would be needed to determine if it is a "deal" or not. Hope this helps!

I work for SPD and have never heard most of that. Yes we have new trucks, most are automatics and some of our drivers do oversize. But a new driver is not going to be hauling the loads that are paying $400 a day. You can make $400 on mileage but not every day, you'll run out of hours.

But what do I know, I haul mostly super loads for them.

Actually it's cowlings for 777 engines. I haul them almost every week, just unloaded a set of 14' wide 777 inlets in Everett this morning that I loaded in Wichita on Monday. Now I'm getting a 16' high load ready here in Arlington to take to North Charleston, SC

I'm at our office in Washington, just talked to the boss and that is not Smokey Point.

Edit - We would sure like a link to the ad your seeing. There have been several of us this evening trying to find this ad on CL and no luck. All the current postings we can find our from our two recruiters and they make no mention of any of the stuff listed.

FWIW, SPD does not do lease purchase stuff. We do get new trucks, I'm on my second one in 18 months and yes I do have a "not chromed out automatic transmission" truck.

Thanks for the help. The ad is no longer running. It only ran for one day on the site in Kansas. I have forwarded on to whoever created the post an application, MVR and PSP,license, med card&long form, safety performance release, & drug and alcohol release and received a reply back that they are reviewing it all. I guess I will sit on my hands and wait to hear a reply back. It mentioned the option of going to and from Charleston, SC aswell and assumed after looking over the SPD website that it was this outfit but clearly is not. I hope to by tomorrow have a phone number to talk to somebody and get the details over everything.

I have been with SPD for nearly 10 years and have not heard a thing about that kind of offer & pay .. especially for a new hire.

There are only about a dozen company drivers who do the super loads. and $400 a day can be achieved ...HOWEVER... you will start out with the 9 & 10' ones and progress upwards as you build your "cred" without incidents or issues.

Currently I am under a "mini" super load (17'8" wide only) & 10k for weight with 6+ hours to pad and tarp. (4) 26' x 24' lumber tarps)
I drive an '12 Pete 386 with a Paccar engine coupled to a 13 sp.

Well whomever posted that is clearly using SPD's routes as that is what we run all the time. I just came from Wichita with a 14' wide and am leaving here going to Charleston with a 16' high load.

As Saddlesore has already said, there are only a few drivers in this company making that kind of money and there is no way a new driver is going to be put on multi-million dollar loads right off the bat unless they come with a lot of verifiable experience from a trusted partner carrier.

I hope I'm wrong but it sounds strangely like someone may be fishing for information and I would personally be very worried about identity theft and it would be a cold day in #### before I would send all that information to a blind e-mail. If the company/recruiter can't be up front with at the very minimum a phone number then I would never respond with anything more than my e-mail address and my phone number.

If your interested in doing flatbed work between Kansas and Washington and have at least a couple years flatbed experience then feel free to contact myself or Saddlesore and we can get you in touch with our HR people. I'll be more than happy to share my pay stubs with you but I can guarantee you that's not what you'll make your first year here. Yes we all make really good money but $400 a day is not going to happen on a regular basis.

Oh and there's good reason why I get new trucks and Saddlesore is stuck in a '12 Peterwrecker, he works all the time, I whine most of the time, just ask wichris :)
