Does anyone have any plug-in scanner recommendations for a qualcomm unit (MCP110)?

There is this one that I'm pretty sure is compatible but I'm wondering if there are other options before I maybe buy. Yes, I know I can scan and email from PC using any of a number of portable scanners/printers and I may well end up going that route. But right now, I'm looking for Qualcomm compatible USB units that are reliable (if there are any). This one seems like it may be kind of slow if you have 20 pages to send plus several fuel receipts ...

A good freind of mine is leased on to Fed Ex Custom Critical. He's looking into that one because he doesn't want to pay the $138 they are selling them for.

Talk to the carrier first bud. My USB was dead except for charging on my MCP 50. The carrier will incur a fee for data transmission on the network so he may not let you. Ours runs on the AT&T cell network...and runs Windows CE.

FYI: The number on the back of the control head is the login for the program menu. ( Unless carrier has changed it )

    Have fun.....

They say we are welcome to obtain our own [compatible] USB scanner and use their cellular data to transmit via qualcomm (direct to their transflow inbox) Most of the scanners at the truck stop work great but every now and then you'll come up on one that sucks and jams repeatedly so I'm just looking at in-truck scanning option pros-cons.

I'm going to be in the office tomorrow and will ask if they have a current list of compatible scanners.

Prime uses/used this model and yes it is slow. fuel receipts are a pain to keep feeding straight, the slightest bump will skew them and smear the scan or the rollers will catch one side and pull it sideways.

Is there some sort of proprietary software?

I carry a canon all in one unit with AirPrint. Handy unit. If I will not be able to get back to a terminal before cutoff, I just scan to PDF on a memory card, swap the card to the laptop and fire it off to our payroll department quick and easy. I do the same for paperwork to the broker if they will take e-mails.

The qualcomm unit is pre-configured with software/drivers to accept compatible scanners more or less "plug and go". I suppose the compression and software scheme may be somewhat proprietary but I suspect it simply converts the docs to pdf's then batches them into a singe "document", then sends to the registered address that is associated with the qualcomm unit in question.

For those of you who don't have smartphone this is of no use. But if you do, there is a FREE app that I use called Cam Scanner. Using my phone camera I simply open the app, take a picture of the document, convert and save it as a. pdf file, then email it to whom ever in the world. Simple as that and saves me scanner costs, drive time to a fax machine. It is awesome! And best of all, as i said before, FREE! And did I mention it is free?
