IIRC, as it's been a while since I had a rider for my wife at LS, there is no additional insurance required.

When I had my authority and my driver wanted to have a rider, it cost them $100 a year as that is what the additional insurance cost me.

I think they meant we pay our own comp and collision, the thinking being that we should not have the passenger restrictions above what the feds mandate.

Most companies charge for rider insurance. Physical Damage has nothing to do with riders. Passengers can be distractions, which is why the authority holder has to approve the rider. They make their own rule. The first company I was leased to it had to be a family member or spouse. I may have snuck my girlfriend on once or twice though.

Is an electronic engine required for the eobr? What if you have a mechanical engine? Does that disqualify you?

Yes you need an electronic engine for the EOBR. It won't disqualify you, you just need to install an electronic engine before your pre-lease inspection or find another truck to lease on.

Does this 1 year include the spouse riding ? I have been considering Landstar and Mercer, but Spouse being able to ride along from the beginning is a must.

I don't know how the rider policy works for wives now, but I had my wife with me from day 1
