I am sitting here watching my 4 year old grandaughter play in the living room..
The look on her face when i came to the classroom door to pick her up was priceless..
When her teacher asked her " who is that Charli" that big smile and the words "thats my papaw" makes everything else seem trivial...
I believe this may be the best move for now chowick..
Like you..i hate moving my stuff ..Jrdude5, CougFan, DenaliDad and 1 other person Thank this. -
We'll see.
At least I sense a teensy, teensy embarrassment on your part.
It could be a good thing if honest.
...if...
Not 'las preferencias'--a 'privileged' few.Last edited: Nov 21, 2013

"No, I was just interested in this job."
SNI: "Oh, well, I don't think that job's actually available."
"Says on your web site it's available."
SNI: "We have lots of opportunities if you'd like to apply online."
"I was interested in this particular job."
SNI: "I'm sure we have something else for you if you apply online..."
"Well, what something else?"
SNI: "Oh, something else..."
I figure if they're lying, they're lying.
The liar: "You don't know beans about how this game is played!!"
In my book, lying isn't a game, especially when it has consequences.Last edited: Nov 21, 2013
chowick1966 Thanks this. -
I have nothing to be embarrased about..
I have been very honest about all my observations here..
I have never said that everyone will achieve the same level of success that i have.
I do believe it is possible within certain parameters.
I do not believe i am treated any different than any other driver. Nor do i expect any preferential treatment.. well,,maybe a little..
No matter what area of life you pursue the outcome is up to you.
I have a stepson that had a difficult time understanding that. He graduated highschool simply because his body showed up every day
Perfect attendance, but he didnt have a clue what happened the whole time.
After school he got fired from every job he had. Including my company.. fortunately his mother fired him to prevent me being put in that situation.
He thought as long as he showed up, then he had earned his check. He just stood around with his head up his rear. Never paid any attention to instruction.
After being fired by every company in our county and several in neighboring counties, he found himself broke and homeless at 24..
At wits end he and his mother wanted my advice.. attitude adjustment... U.S. Army..
Let me tell you .. 7 years later he is a changed young man and i am very proud of him. He gets it now..
After tours in iraq and afghanistan and now preparing to go back to afghanistan he understands he will only get out of it what he puts into it.
Hard work...proving yourself time and time again..
There are always those who complain that it aint fair that some do better than others but equal opportunity does not guarantee equal outcome..
Hope you enjoyed this civics lesson....i think we have chased this rabbit long enough..CougFan, joseph1135, madog31 and 3 others Thank this. -

You can be successful at anything you do. It's called applying yourself. GTI is a good company. And chow, tow, myself and many others are going to continue to do what we do. The heartland member extended their welcome and an olive branch to us. They did not have to do that at all. That shows they are interested in us as drivers. Instead if looking at us as replaceable, they are trying to keep us. Heartofatrucker did not have to come here. They didnt have to say anything. But they did. And that shows that we are not expendable to them. We mean something. Mike Gerdin said it himself. He wants us. That's coming from the head of a now billion dollar company. Could things go bad? Sure. But the Heartland people reached out to us. Here. Sought us out. That says something.
The Challenger, sc00ter, double yellow and 1 other person Thank this. -
By the way, today the Gordon family showed what a class act that they are. A thank you to the people who helped made them what they became. They didn't have to. GTI and Heartland are showing that we are not the expendable employees that some here insist we are. In an industry that has this fast revolving door of drivers, that really says something.
sc00ter and The Challenger Thank this. -
Gosh, tow, your long-winded parable of the prodigal stepson should embarrass you. Stuff all the rabbits you want down certain rabbit holes and ain't nothing coming out. Put in until your heart bleeds, if you want.
Companies with 100% driver turnover are just such rabbit holes.
Cheerleaders who harshly criticize pointing out that the emperor has a peewee weewee, that his pellet shooter is small caliber and loaded with shorts,
should be ashamed.
The bulk of Gordon work was short haul.
Was and is. Man up. No there there.
Drivers don't make money so they leave.
No amount of rabbits gonna fill those holes, tow.
Pedaling harder, faster, doesn't--won't help.
Too much unpaid time on short hauls.
A job that pays better--that helps.
Ask CougFan. : 0)
CougFan felt he did well at Gordon; moved on to an hourly job with overtime.
Will HTLD/GTI be better than Gordon? Dunno.Last edited: Nov 21, 2013
