I think the idea is to push more companies to elogs since it seems many drivers have trouble getting it right.

    Or, the official reasoning...

    http://www.fmcsa.dot.gov/rules-regulations/topics/hos/qanda.aspx#q1

Whatever the reasoning it says 'nanny state'.

Actually the rule was made because some drivers if they worked right could actually work more than 70 hrs in 8 days. Yes the rule is stupid, because how many could or would do that? You'd basically have to have a dedicated run. No way to know what you're going to have for load times etc otherwise.

Ok. So I rolled in on a Saturday morning a few weeks ago with 2hr 45 min left on my 70.
monday morning I rejected my 34 . And it only gave me what was left on my 70 back(2hr45min). I thought I would get back the 12 hrs I worked on the Previous Monday . I called the Qualcomm/log guy and had him reject my reject. So I could roll. anyone know why I only got back what was left on my 70 ? I don't get it???

It probably would have gave you those hours at midnight, but wouldn't do it if you didn't have hours coming off that Sunday and Saturday. But I probably will have to get the safety department to reject my reject as well.

It's 70 in 8 days so the previous monday would still be part of the 8. The 12 hours would be available on the tuesday.

My hubby hit the reject button and ended up calling safety to correct it. SHE said it was a MAN thing. LOL Men just HAD to hit that reject button. He was told he shouldn't do it again.

Used to be guys could take two resets in a week and work more then 70 hours in 8 days, and it was legal. now you are limited to 70 in 8 days by only taking one reset

Don't you think maybe it's part of your job to understand the rules and regs which affect the job you do? A nine year veteran ought to have a pretty fundamental understanding of the rules and be able to alter that understanding when things change.
