Hot shots are all ready targeted, not having air brakes makes them much easier to inspect.

    Roadmedic Thanks this.

I have been a trucker for 20 years and have seen big companies putting little companies out of business. I haul Canada only and don't require a dot or Mc number by law. I have insurance on my pickup and 20 foot deck. I enjoy what I do and have no regrets. Maybe if bigger transport companies would give the little guy a break they could afford to get the proper insurance they require. And the uship fees are posted in black and white for everyone to see. So if u don't agree with them then go somewhere else. And by the way if u don't have freight insurance uship offers it to the shipper as a package. U people need to do more research on uship before u start complaining about them. Like I said if u don't agree with them then why bid on anything? Grow Up people

I cannot speak for Canada but I do know you do have to have an MC and DOT number to haul into the states and if you are coming from the states to Canada. I have nothing against making money but I am against those who skirt the law and take away work from those of us who are trying to do it honestly and legally. Wheni have to pay for fuel, maintenance, insurance, taxes, and food on the road, I am supposed to use the the rest of what money is leftover to pay my bills and feed my family. When you have somebody not playing by the rules taking loads at cut rate prices it makes us look bad. While gasoline (or petrol) prices have come down drastically diesel has stayed constant and high. When somebody uses one of these pirate drivers I only hope that their hired driver takes good care of the load. My teo main rules are 1) safety first and 2) treat the load like it is more valuable than my life. I am waiting for the day one of these pirate haulers gets caught by the DOT and this causes an issue with some customer who was expecting their shipment to get to its destination finds out they have to hire another truck to finish the load. I for one would be highly tempted to charge double or a more appropriate rate if asked to finish that haul. It's not being a jerk, it's being principled because the customer needs to be educated as to what it takes to ship goods from one place to another.

I agree with u 100%. That's why I'm tired of people complaing about broker fees. If u want to make money u have to spend it. I'm just tired of the big companies undercutting the little guy. We have to make a living as well. When it comes time for me to haul into the US I will glady get a DOT and MC number but for now I don't need one. I do have to have commercial insurance how ever which I do have and commercial plates. I am 100% in compliance with Canadian regs. Another thing that irritates me is the shippers on uship. We bid a fair price to ship there goods and they want it dirt cheap but when carriers bid 3000.00 to go 500 km its highway robery. We need to keep it real. With the cost of fuel and maintence and the fact that the bigger trucks can put more than one customer on or in their trailers 1000 or less is a fair price for that distance. Just so u know i am not a troll or a uship employee. I am just ticked off at where this industry is heading
