I inquired about the Apprenticeship program today, and according to the PSD coordinator, they are not currently set up to handle that at this time. IP, Apprenticeship and the GI Bill are two different things; he can use both over the course of his life.

The insurance at Prime was pricey even before ACA kicked in. Not a lot different now, though the cost after a year of employment isn't too bad.

As far as I go, I am TNT certified now, and PSD certified at the end of the week.

Got some of my stuff moved over today, but it's slow going, with my schedule being as full as it is right now.

Led my first group PTI today, the students seemed to enjoy my teaching style, and all but the ones who've been waiting for a trainer stayed engaged the whole time. I'm starting to dig on this. :)

Had a half dozen people ask me to take them out, and it sucked having to turn so many interested students down. Still not too high on the idea of TNT, but PSD seems cool. :)

Aha... the Vietnam-era bill we had just had the the "GI Bill" benefit that you could choose to invest or waste as you would. The "Apprenticeship" deal sounds like a great addition to your benefits.

2013, but that's not the issue. The issue is that I never wanted to give up my Prostar, and I am losing my nice big fridge, and was screwed out of a used mini for a condo by detail, and had to pay full price. I have to pay a ton if I want my tv mounted, had to pay a ton to get my fridge installed, and I said screw it and installed my own cb- and it won't work for whatever reason.

Basically, it is just an abrupt lifestyle change that I'll need to get used to. I loved my truck, and losing it hurts my heart- and I hate pre-used trucks. Detail did a good job with cleaning this one (I've seen plenty of company truck reissues that were junk washed), but the installer at detail was a total jerkwad.

I am going to Prime in MO for training in Jan, a new driver but very excited. My situation is I am very healthy, I do not worry about any probs passing the DOT exam, the only thing is my knees are not the strongest as I played too much football back in the day...so as long as i wear my knee braces I am good, so I am able to walk ok, get in and out of the truck...since I heard that there really is no loading/unloading...I think/hope I should be ok. as I can get around..just probably not able to lift 50-100 lb items for a couple hours etc...do you think I will be ok...if I just have sort of weaker knees but with medical-grade hinged knee braces their will plenty of knee support...that shouldnt effect my DOT physical should it..or ability to do the job?

Part 2----I guess to be perfectly candid - I cant bounce up and down like I did as a 20 year old...like a jack in the box...i have to move a little slower...and be careful in and out of the cab etc....of course I can walk...not jog...but can do the maintenance and necessary moving around items in the trailer when need be...just not able to unload/load...like a warehouse worker...just wondering if other drivers who have not the strongest knees or have to wear knee braces just to be careful have been ok on the job....as yeah...the option is I good get my torn cartilage operated on...but sometimes going under the knife with a torn meniscus makes it worse not better --have a torn meniscus in each knee....for the past 5 years....since then...if I do too much without wearing knee braces...like walking a mile...or playing basketball...then sometimes that blows my knees out and swells up...therefore...my plan is too buy and wear medical-grade steel reinforced knee braces...as many people with torn meniscus can even play sports with these....will allow me to do my job as an over-the-road trucker....thanks for your response in advance
