I added the stuff from the shop that's supposed to be good in very low temps. It's not. It froze up within an hour. The shop says the only thing to do is get somewhere warmer - GOOD IDEA!!!! In the meantime it's 5 degrees here and I'm on a timed load.

What options do I have? Is ther a good additive?

    This sucks.

Try stopping at Wal-Mart and see what they have. I'm thinking that what ever the shop gave you was cut with water

Get a cup of hot water from the coffee pot and a bottle of rubbing alcohol, this should warm it up and break up the ice. The rubbing alcohol is not good in the long run but it will break up the slush for now. Then go get some good de-icer washer fluid and add it to the tank and you should be fine.

Options...Windex and a roll of paper towels.

Rubbing Alcohol is usually 80% alcohol 20% water. It will freeze. A good w/washer antifreeze is usually a methanol blend. Any truckstop should have it.

what you need is de icer fluid. hard to find at the ttruckstops.

i never run the regular crap in the system this time of year. i buy a 3 gallons from walmart or home depot or something. every time i'm home.

it helps when the fog is icing up your windshield also.

that standard blue crap might say MINUS 20. but it really isn't worth a crap at anything below PLUS 20.

Just freezing at the sprayer nozzle, pour a bit of brake line antifreeze in and keep topping up with winter blend and it should be fine. You might have to pour some hot water on the nozzles themselves to get them flowing again.
