My husband recently had a rear-end collision caused by brake failure on the trailer and was let go from his job. Do any of you know of any good companies that will hire him? He has over one year of recent driving experience, and several years experience driving in the military. Thanks for anything that you can share.

That's a preventable so doubt he gets hired for awhile. The mega carriers wont but try smaller ones 50 trk or less and tell your husband to start doing his pretrips.

Brake " failure " is rare. Bad brakes on a trailer is not.Pre-trip, and if brakes are marginal, compensate by allowing more stopping distance. Bet he learned a valuable lesson. Smaller fleets might work, possible local carriers. Good luck.

Military doesn't count as experience unless they had sleepers. Ask the companies they will say ask that. GL

    This crowd doesn't like the 3 "r" s.

Rollover, roll away, and rear end.

The third is often the worst.

Try shooting Chinatown a PM, he may have a few leads on smaller outfits that will let him go again.

Military driving can be very hard to verify, Normally they will only respond with service dates and not duties.

Under the circumstances, does'nt matter how many yrs exp he has.,doesn't matter about his time in the service.Think companies will see the preventable before they get into all the other stuff on his application.

Did ya'll have trailer investigated by a Certified Diesel Mechanic to prove it was trailer , so he can dispute and fight this. It's a huge deal. If it was trailer malfunction that couldn't be detected by a Pre or Post trip.

Winner! right here....If the brakes aren't working properly it's the DRIVER'S total responsibility to report it. Even to the length of putting the trailer OOS (read refusing to move) until the brake issues are repaired AND CERTIFIED on the DVR by a certified mechanic. "if" your hubby did a pre-trip and found the brake issue and still moved the vehicle ...sorry it's all on him. Good Luck finding a decent company...he'll be able to probably find work , it just won't be a really great job.....action..or in-actions have consequences...
