Why not post some companies actual lease agreements ?

    And go from there.

or is that not a good idea.......

I do like the thought of being able to have the maintenance done when and where you like. Not where they tell you. But if you fall behind on it then they should be allowed to tell you that you cannot get another load until maintenance has been done. By that I mean if it falls way behind not a couple miles over on this and that. Hope you know what I am talking about. I also think a CAC and overhead should be allowed to be done every so often. Those will cost you money in the long run. You should be able to have truck aligned out of maintenance fund and be able to pick your own type of tire. Some will only put on brand x and others brand y. I am supposedly paying for your truck to run up and down the road I should be able to make as much profit as possible. If you make some aftermarket upgrades it should be written that you are responsible for taking them off or whatever is agreed upon when you turn truck in or if you end up finishing the lease and it is yours.

That would be fine driver,,than we can talk about it if people want. We are just trying to find what would be the perfect lease program. I doubt that it is out there, but maybe.

I agree with you sir. You would think that companies would want to put more thought into it about the maintenance of the truck. This is why some people think that companies don't really care if you fail or not. I am willing to bet that the majority of the recruiter, dispatchers, safety dept, log dept etc, do NOT want you to fail. They work for the same company we do, it is the stock holders or the owners themselves that are thinking about their bottom dollar and for some reason can seep to see beyond their nose. I mean anyone that knows business at knows that you have to think about the long run, not just what will happen today. By taking the focus off recruiting and applying that same focus to helping the driver/s...there is a word and it just will not cross my mind. But basically, if the company did what you are suggesting, than that would show the company cares about its reputation. Right now, it seems, most companies don't think that far ahead and that is what causes the drivers to fail and the high turn over rate, for the most part anyway.

This a good idea, better then comparing ideas that are not reality and just peoples wishes (no offence intended to the OP).

I doubt you will ever find 2 people that will agree on what the perfect lease to own program is anywaya unless you have something very unrealistic like no money down, $1 per week for 1 week and a $1 payoff for a new truck with unlimited freight for $10 per mile and $100 per hour detention pay after 10 minutes.

Everyone’s wants and needs are different at some point. For instance I like the sounds of a lease program that has a variable payment that is dependent on revenue (like Sammons does) so that you will always get some form of paycheck even on bad weeks but others swear against variable payment leases saying they are scams. Some people want to be dispatched and do not want to deal with haggling on loads while others never want to talk to a dispatcher and would rather use load boards. Some people want to stay out for weeks at a time and others want to be home every week or even every night.

There is no “Perfect Lease Program”, at least not one that is perfect for everyone. Even if you did get everyone to agree on a set of parameters, what good does it do you if no company is offering it?

A thread comparing different leases that are available would be interesting as long as the “all leases are scams” crowed stays away.

Depends on what type of contract you're on. Swift has two types ... One is a straight lease, with a buy out option at the end. These are new trucks and are under warranty for all major components through 450K miles and drive train for 750K miles. You can get these trucks brand new or take over an existing lease for the remainder of it's term.

Or you can purchase a truck. These can be company trucks at the end of there lease and Swift bought them out to resell them or they can be trucks that Swift bought on the open market and selling. These truck typically have high 400k to low 500k in mileage.

Both programs come with a 30 day no questions asked warranty, on anything that is not to your satisfaction on the truck. On the purchase though, after 30 days you're on your own. It's your truck, you're buying it and you keep it running as you see fit.

I like that they offer options, like SNI for the purchase of the truck. Most mega carriers that offer the L/P also sell older trucks that someone can buy out-right. I am not sure if all those that do sell trucks, offer the 30 day warranty but, I am going to go out on a limb and say they do. So as far as how you get the truck, Swift pretty much sounds the same as the majority.

You have put a lot of info about Swift's L/P on this thread already, go ahead and put it all on here, if you don't mind.

I am planning to get my truck with someone else, not with a freight company. And one driver posted the other day a link for Lone Mountain Truck Leasing and I really loved their program. And here is what they say:

"Here at Lone Mountain Truck Leasing, we run a very simple and straight forward Lease-to-Own Program. We purchase our trucks in large groups and price them as low and competitively as we can. We want it to be a fair deal for everyone! You simples make a small down payment when picking out your truck and then make the monthly payments. The down payments are usually between $3000 and $6000 with monthly payment of $1100 to $1600. They are based on the truck and not your credit. Once you make your final payment, we then release the title for you, free and clear! There are NO balloon payments, mileage restrictions, buy-outs, or hidden fees. We have three locations you can pick your truck up at: Georgia, Iowa, and Nevada."

    Here it is their link,

and for sure I am gonna get my truck with these guys.

Call them and talk with Charlotte, she is an awesome person.

I looked at Lone Mtn a while back and I have talked to drivers about them and have never heard but 1 complaint. That complaint is on this forum. You don't have to have perfect credit but, mine is bad enough that they won't approve me. I am not sure but maybe after 6 months of doing a L/P, they will. I will have to look into that, whether or not paying payments on a L/P will be sufficient.

Lone mountain has a pretty decent setup.

The few times I stopped by the Georgia location,

they didn't have any trucks that I would consider owning..
