I thought Conway was dry van only. Why the tanker endorsement.

Because we do occasionally haul IBCs/totes, and when you transport more than 1,000 gallons total in containers larger than 119 gallons you are required to have a tanker endorsement.

Note the 119 gallon container size. A truckload of bottled water or oil drums does not require a driver with a tanker endorsement.

Good to know! My wife and I will be stating TDI school in a few weeks and I wanted to get all the endorsements we can just for the sake of having them. Nothing like opening as many doors has possible. I knew hazmat was needed but this was the first I heard of this tanker requirement. I was thinking about getting TWIC cards too. Even if Conway didn't require them, they are in the pocket for later.

Tanks not required but, good to have because of the big totes. Also, many of those bad boys have hazmat in them so higher income. So, if you are 15th on the board to get a load, and all have hazmat, but only you have tanker, you get the load...less waiting, more miles, haz mat pay, its a good thing. Likewise, if you are number one on the board, and one of these loads comes up, somebody else will get that load if you don't have the endorsement.

Does Con-Way reimburse tolls and scale fees and such? Is it a hassle to get reimbursed for these expenses? Is there EZ-Pass, etc available to the driver? Thanks in advance.
