What is if any difference between the 2002 6NZ 475HP and 550HP.
I have one truck that has the 6NZ rated for 475HP and wanted to know if there is any difference and if not I was going to turn it up to 550HP next time it needs service.
Anybody done this? Any problems?
Cat 6NZ 475HP and 550HP difference

There might be a slight difference in the turbo but you can turn a 475 up to a 550 without worries.

There is no difference in these two power rating as far as engine hard parts are concerned. The difference is the flash file in the ECM. If the truck doesn't have a transmission or clutch rated for 1850lb-ft of torque, CAT will refuse to uprate the file in the ECM. PM me if they refuse to do this for you.

Nope wasn't you, Milton did my 01 to and that was a waste of 500.00!!Cetane+ Thanks this. -
Most likely when it was updated the most modern file available was used, most likely a low nox file, you were better of with your previous tune, Mr Haneys will be a pre low nox file and would show the proper performance gains.

Can any one clarafy when cat do a field uprate . The ones I have seen they set the fls fts to 0,0 as a default value . I think this is also where they loose the fuel economy as well as the low nox crappy file. The two together = a waste of $$$$. Not sure about the par Dyno side of things maybe if they did it that way it would be slightly better for the performance and fuel economy .
