I know at FedEx, we had no packages left behind for Christmas that had to go to peoples houses. Everyone was going out of the way to call customers if they needed signatures to ask where they were or where to take them.
PLUS one day during peak, half of the Ground trucks did not go out, and Home Delivery shut down completely for a day, and we still didnt miss a beat.
Express was backed up and had packages waiting, but they sent a couple drivers out today to finish up packages.
Now back to regularly schedule UPSF talk

I agree hammer71, I read that they can't discipline us for refusing to drive in unsafe conditions or if any equipment isn't in safe working order. The senior road guy said don't abuse it though which is a given. As the amazon thing goes there's nothing you can do. It is possible for fedex to catch up but right now they aren't even the slightest competition for UPS parcel.
Also they are very very very fussy on the temps they hire as well.Shaggy Thanks this. -
Does parcel tractor trailer drivers make more?
-
So does FedEx, by the way. I've done Amazong to FedEx before as well.Shaggy Thanks this. -
I drove the days leading up to Christmas. Unlike what some of the news outlets were reporting, in my view, UPS did not screw up. The amount of packages that were being shipped far exceeded their trailer space. I've seen UPS trucks all week long. They been passing me left and right pulling triples in a middle of a blizzard (big no-no in most of the states we operate in). My guess is they are dropping one of their boxes somewhere just before they hit a scale.
As for all the folks cryin' about not getting their crap on time: Go blame Amazon for not signing on enough other carriers to get their products moved. UPS has been working their arses off. I don't think I've ever seen so many of them out on the roadway before (especially pulling triples). I feel bad for their drivers to be honest. I doubt any of them had any time off.Shaggy Thanks this. -
Normally, I don't care, but this was the LTL door. 3 other shipping doors was empty.
LTL door is the last on the building for quick and easy access.
Who do I see? 1 Swift and a CRST staged blocking any movement for this LTL door.
USPS was at the door. These 2 numbnuts had no care in the world except to get a easy door.
Not sure who moved first to allow USPS out.
Screw this crap , I went few doors down ( side by side empty 3 doors ) and the fellas inside were laughing.
The guys inside already told Swift and CRST have to go a few doors down.

Just another day at the office. -
I talked to the UPS guy yesterday, he still has his jumper, and will probably have his jumper all of next week, he said he is busy.
But at FedEx Ground, we slowed WAY down, and by way down, I mean, I only did 45 stops yesterday. Same with Express, I talked to 2 of the Express drivers yesterday, and they are caught up, same with Home Delivery.
We did work hard, UPS is working hard too.
I had a couple ask why they didnt get their orders by Christmas, and I asked when they ordered it, and they said "the 23rd", or "The 19th"
I said there you go, if it's coming from Santa Barbara CA, or Atlanta GA, it just doesnt come over night unless you pay the big bucks.
They said they had it ordered and had it shipped the next day.
But here is what others didnt understand which is the big problem I think. They dont understand the differerence between it being shipped out the next day, and next day delivery.
I had to tell them shipped next day means it will leave the warehouse the next day, and next day delivery means it will go out the same day and on an airplane and on a truck to you the next day.
On that note, I think we have hijacked his thread way beyond than what he wants lol. SorryCenutryClass Thanks this. -
On the way out I got lost again. Went straight when I should've turn left, ended up in some narrow dark county road with deer everywhere (oh god what now), made a right turn where I saw lights, found enough room to pull a uie in front a military warehouse and got the hell out of there. I probably made just about any mistake I could make without hitting anything that night. Had to run non-stop through the night since I lost so much time getting lost like a newb. Crossed Dallas during commuting hours still doing the speed limit. Delivered 7 minutes before it was a "service failure".
And that morning I realized I really wanted to become a big truck trucker driver.Shaggy Thanks this.
