Yea our guys should be sent home for the day so Arnold can pull it....that sounds like a good idea!

You do realize those guys sitting around with no loads get paid by the hour right?

    ACH1130 and Shaggy Thank this.

See, that's what scares me about ABF and YRC.

Makes me sad. Then companies like Central are so profitable they go and buy other companies. So they can cut those wages too.

Yea it is a ill scary but the terminals are ones that could be served by bigger terminals close by. Some have less than 10 people working at them. (From what I've read).

I cant wait. I was hoping that it would involve more driving than what I had in our school. I also understand that the training is done with ABF equipment.

ABF is in a hell of a better place than YRC. Allthough YRC is doing a lot better

Unlike a lot of LTL companies, ABF has it's "Upack". This is a large revenue generator for them and is also a good bargaining chip for the union. Can you imagine your household goods sitting in a trailer yard somewhere because the union's on strike?

How much experience doing LTL do you think would be needed to get into a company like ABF? I'm looking into Con-Way LTL as a beginner company if I can specially since they do schooling for sure and one of their schools is right down the road for me. It's a terminal/school. I live in Sacramento, CA. Oh, there is also an ABF terminal here as well. But anyways, if not, Ill sadly be doing swift OTR for a year until I can get into an LTL company. (oh another random question, if you leave a company and they give you the bill for schooling, do you make monthly payments for that bill? Or is it all payed up front?) -sorry about the extra information there, don't think its really needed but I like stating my plans to get opinions-

Look on abf.com to see if there hiring for the position city driver(school). I started with abf with not one minute of driving experience with a company (I did have my cdl thru a school. But got sent thru there school and had I known would not have needed to get it on my own )
