When I was on phase 2 with England I went through the north bound rainbow scales on I-15. Lepton can attest to how fun they can be. I already knew how inspection happy they were having grown up with a truck driver father in Temecula.
So sure enough I roll through with my trainer in the sleeper and bam Pull arround back England bay 3 (I forget how many they have). So I pull in and they tell me they're just going to check my lights and papers. So I start chatting up a trainee they had in there all about Temecula and tell him how everytime my dads boss would screw him over he'd bring bad equipment in just to get inspected and shut down (pre csa days). Well it turns out when I picked up that trailer in Utah I miss read the sticker on where to have my tandems for CA. I read "center or rear axles" when it and the law actually reads "center of rear axle". Turns out I was a foot and a half long and the inspector has me get out of the truck and explains the whole law to me and shows me what they look for.
So then the inspector sends me in to see the officer. When I get in the office the officer is walking outta the bathroom and asks me "So what did they find?" I said with a laugh "I'm not answering that incase they didn't mark it down." Officer laughs looks down and says "nope they marked it. Why didn't you have your tandems set right?" I told him that I thought I had, that his inspectors explained it to me and I just didn't have a good understanding of the law and my trainer hadn't even heard of kingpin law. Officer told me welcome to CR England, to fix it and sent me on my way.
The whole time I was there for some unknown reason I was picturing the end of my driving carrier and im still picking pieces of the seat outta my butt.
Mystery of the weigh stations?

Yep luckly I had asked my dad before I wnt into CA. He wasn't sure as he'd never pulled a trailer with sliding tandems but a buddy of mine had so I had a basic understanding. Now I know better and a 12' tape measurer to make sure.

Newbie here. I have a question. Are there any scales where you actually come to a complete stop? I know som say "no stopping on scales" but others dot. Don't want to stop when not needed or roll through slowly when I needed to stop on scale.

Works everytime -
I believe it has more to do with fleet size and csa score. Mega fleet trucks seem to rarely get checked.
