Found out today after training with the dollar general account that i won't be going on it. The rules changed they said while i was training. Anyway i am really sick of the run around that USX is giving me and feel for the other students that went thru orientation. (No trucks available.)Sucks. If this is one of the top 5 trucking companies in the USA then i wonder about the rest of them. I somehow believe that there is some trucking companies out there that is honest and organized better than USX. I'm am tired of sitting and signing papers. I need a job. :biggrin_2553: If this gets any better i will let everyone know. Please don't listen to the recruiters. Truck driving is painted as glamourous. Done found out it is not.

Wait till you hear just do one more load and we will get you home when you were already due at the house a day earlier.

Or promise you layover pay and you finally get it months later after you shut down a load to get them to pay you.

USX is not one of the top 5 trucking company's out there unless you are referring to how many trucks they have drivers babysitting in the truck stops and terminals.

Why would you want to run dollar general and risk a workers comp claim which will go on your dac record and black ball you from working at many otr company's?

OTR company's don't like drivers who get hurt and cost them money and lots of drivers get hurt sooner or later lumping for DG.

Winter is not a good time to start as a trainee needing to go out with trainers. Some trainers don't train in the winter and the freight is slower so they really probably don't even need you till April anyway.

Home pay? what is that? never heard of any company paying you for being at home. Heck, until you have completed training and not wrecked the truck during your 3 month probationary period you are still in tryout mode at USX.

5 weeks? why are you not training somewhere else by now? At my last company you would of been done by now and making .30 a mile with a .02 raise in a couple of months.

May trucking, but you live in TN and their miles are in the west even though they run a 48 refer division.

Me and a friend of mine, who was a new driver started their last April. He trained for 10 days got a truck and runs primarily Ca with some Az, NV and is already making .35 a mile and will be making .36 at the end of April.

When you have just left a truck driving school as a trainee you need to get behind the wheel somewhere fast. Sitting around for 5 weeks will deteriorate any skills you got as a trainee with no experience and make it even harder to do the job when and if, they get around to giving you a trainer.

I would like some of these trainees to explain why they would sign on with a company that has them sitting around for weeks in unpaid limbo. Can't you people see what will become of you at USX just by the treatment so far?

Until someone is smart enough or motivated enough to get legal representation regarding tactics these companies use, these schmucks will continue to get the same treatment they do now.
Sitting at home ######## about it is NOT gonna change anything.

You:yes2557: should have stayed on it. They get payed by Goverment to hire you to get you off the system. Every seat is worth a couple thousand dollars. Thats why the seats stay hot in the class room.Thats why they tell also you cant be employed by anyone when you come to orientation. These large corporations including Covenant transport keep the seats hot and the revolving door oiled up for you to access their building.

Yes, turnover at trucking companies is in the companies' interest. They want turnover. They LOVE turnover. It's part of their business model now, their sucking of the government sugar-titty. They just have to keep the gravy train rolling by whining about a ficticious driver shortage. What a laughable concept. Driver shortage. Give me a ####### break.

Now, as I've said many times before (like a broken record), when the hell is Nancy Fancy Pilosi going to do something about the welfare-to-work fleece job trucking companies are pulling on the government?

Earth to Stone Phillips. Come in, Stone. You awake out there? I used to listen to your truck-bashing BS exposes on NBC. Now do something useful for a change.
