You certainly couldn't expect a driver that would leave ABF to go to Wallyworld know what "liberal means".
Guess you missed Mr. 69's post.

The part of me that thinks tin foil hats will be the next big fashion trend thinks 6 Speed is trying to get this thread locked because people dare to have a different opinion than he does. After all when you can cut and paste like that you obviously know how to tell others how to live.

Just in case it's not blatantly obvious I'm using my sarcasm font.

I have asked various Walmart employees in various places around the country if there is any group of WM employees "the company" treats with respect. The answer, surprisingly, is nearly unanimous: not hourlies, not managers, not even the executives. The ONE group that is treated well is the company truck drivers. If it's true - and I have done no other 'research' other than ask a question, so I cannot validate the honesty or truth independently - it makes sense. Without on-time pickups and deliveries, Walmart's business plan falls apart quickly.

I wouldn't want to work for Walmart in any capacity, but the drivers do have nice-looking equipment and pretty spiffy uniforms.

Walmart, as big of a company as they are, only comprise about 1.6% of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of the United States of America! Yet, somehow they are the source of all pain and misery. Sounds like fuzzy liberal math to me!

The number of people currently unemployed in the USA right now is roughly 15 times the number of people who work for Walmart. You want to talk about tax payer funded benefits, those who are unemployed consume billions in benefits while producing absolutely nothing towards the GDP.

The Federal government is not the answer to the problem.....they are the problem! Millions of jobs have been lost due to over-taxation and over-regulation! No amount of liberal finger-pointing at great companies like Walmart will change what is fact or fiction!

Not to make too much of a political statement here, but "over-taxation and over-regulation" don't seem to be as big an issue as sending US manufacturing jobs to foreign countries so "the bottom line" looks better. Being from Michigan, I can tell you that regulation and taxation is not what killed the auto manufacturing industry here in 2007. And unions didn't, either. Walmart used to be proud of "Made in USA" labels and many, many people supported that company's growth. However, when Sam died, the heirs decided they could improve the balance sheet by showing less cost and more profit. They did, and in the process became pretty well known for their abuse of employees at all levels.

1.6% of a very large number is a very large number. Walmart is the largest retailer in the US and one of the largest in the world; like it or not, when a company is that large, the spotlight is pretty bright, too.

Actually, over taxation and over regulation did drive many companies to produce overseas. The US has the highest corporate taxes in the world. As most companies are "for profit," they will do what they have to in a hostile environment. Denali, I take it you know all of the abuse from personal experience?? Or, is it all third hand information??

However, that is a different discussion for a different thread. This is supposed to be a happy thread. If some wish to continue to take it down that road, then this thread will get closed. As there are obviously people who are very happy with their Walmart truck driving job, and wish to discuss that, can you please let us have our thread??

Please open a "Walmart is the source of all evil in the world" thread in another section. Thanks !!! :)

I am proud to be a Walmart Private Fleet driver. I am proud of what a great place it is to work, and that all of my hard work throughout the years allowed me to get this position. My Monday is tomorrow, so I will bow out.

Really? They both go hand in hand. Just as many jobs are leaving high tax states and moving to low tax states. It is no coincidence that states like Texas are growing and a state like Michigan is dying.

LOL! And here I thought denial was in Africa!

Walmart is a business that provides products its customers wish to buy. Like any business, not a charity, their goal is to make money and continue to grow so they can stay in business. People who own stock in Walmart want a return on their investment. As for claims of abuse against employees, last time I checked there are many laws on the books protecting employees. I guess it is easier to claim abuse than to actually prove it. No one is forcing any employees to come here or stay here.

If you owned 1.6% of a very large company, exactly how much control would you have to change the company's direction? Next to zero. Walmart may be the biggest, well known retailer, but they have plenty of competition from other brick & mortar stores and online retailers looking to cut into their sales. Amazon.com, a huge competitor to Walmart, has opened 3 fulfillment centers here in Texas in the past 3 months. Each of them are as big as the Walmart DC's in Sealy, Sanger, and New Braunfels, TX. Walmart can stay at the top by pleasing its customers, otherwise, a different company will rise to the top.
