Well stated 6 Speed. We shouldn't be afraid of the truth. We sometimes make our own reality when it comes to the facts
. This being a thread on the positive aspects of working for Wal-Mart,and a very good one at that, we shouldn't ignore that not everyone at Wal-Mart has the same opportunity .

Opportunities are everywhere. You just have to seek them out and work for them. No one is entitled to them nor are they given to you.
Extreme4x4, BRShirk, drozzer69 and 2 others Thank this. -
That's the problem in this country Korky, the sense of entitlement is huge and people think that they should win always. I call it the soccer mentality... not everyone has the same opps at Walmart because they come from different backgrounds and often chose their own lot in life. Walmart can be a good place to grow within and/or move around and keep the same job.

Are you where you are because of choice or chance? We're you handed your job or did you work hard and make difficult choices over the years?
-
Oh you and that darn personal responsibility thing. You're messing with his whole narrative.

As much as trucking has been a big part of adult life, health problems I developed nearly 10 years ago lead to me and my wife exploring business opportunities back in 2007. Today, we have a business employing more 40 people. My wife has wanted me to retire from trucking and work full time for the business. A few of the reasons why I have not done so are that trucking has been a part of my DNA and I still have many good years left AND the unstable state of the economy. I have 2 young children, so I am not willing to go all-in just yet. My income with Walmart Transportation creates a good safety net. In the meantime, I will continue to handle the technology side of the business that has enabled us to grow rapidly.
Opportunities exist for everyone, regardless of skills, experience, or gifted talent. To take advantage of them can often require a lot of hard work. Complaining about life on a message board changes nothing. You have to change! From my own experience, the more I give to others, the more I serve a higher power, the wealthier I become.CMate, drozzer69, newbieatwalmart and 6 others Thank this. -
If a person, who's only qualification is being able to suck air, is worth $15 an hour.................. then what is everyone else worth??
That is the slippery slope. If you raise the price for entry level, then you have to raise the price for everyone else. Otherwise, entry level is worth the same as experienced and educated. Once the rate goes up for everyone, and the subsequent cost increases in everything, then everyone is back at square one.
That said, I don't have much time on my 30 minutes. I love my job. Being on the inside, I see all of the good Walmart does, that others do not want to see, as it is counterproductive to their rhetoric. Also, please understand that Walmart Transportation LLC is a separate entity. So, complaining about Walmart store operations to us truck drivers is kind of silly.
Please feel free to open your own Walmart bashing thread in the appropriate forum. Thanks !!!billthetrucker, Boy Howdey, TomOfTx and 2 others Thank this.
