That's what I've been looking for in a company, one that does listen when a driver communicates!! Lol, I wasn't sure if GIE hired in upstate NY, so I went to prime, thinking it would be 48 state OTR, and found out that their idea of OTR was 3-4 weeks out 1600 miles a week running New England regional. I also found that communication is NOT a priority with the bigger companies. Arrrrrggg!! What was I thinking?

Seriously, it does truly sound like GIE has its act together when it comes to making sure the drivers are happy. Not that I'm looking for a perfect company, but if I'm out 2-3 weeks I like to get out there at least between Midwest (like I -25 and points east)and get in 2500 miles or more legally. 3 weeks in a tiny sleeper running solely up & down northern I 95 gets old fast(. Of course i realize the meat loads will be hitting that route too, it's just I like to get headed west and away from there one I make the east coast delivery). I'm hoping to make the call to GIX and one other Midwest based dry van carrier that's been asking for me to come back, should my attempts at getting if changed to real OTR fail at prime.

I gave my two week notice back in December for an opportunity to make more money in the oil fields. GI deducts $25 per paycheck and deposits it into an Escrow fund which is to be returned 30 days after an employee quits. That is if an employee does not have any preventable breakdowns. Which I made sure to prevent.

I called GI to find out why my escrow had been not deposited into my bank account. Each employee gave me the run around and stated that they did not know. I later received an email saying that I would not be refunded the $500 because the "truck rear end went out due to engaging the power divider while the rear axle was spinning". I know for a fact that this was not true! They straight out lied to me!

I called the shop for more information and they said that they were not aware of that issue. I later received a call from the shop manager who stated that it was "not the truck rear end" and spoke to me in jargon. He used technical terms to describe what occurred and did not give a straight answer. Which one is it? They had enough time to make up another lie.

I feel cheated and betrayed. Before today, I would have recommended them. This is what I get for giving a two week notice.

In the end, I told them that they can keep the $500! There was no way of getting around them. It was only their word against mine. They had no intention of returning my money.

GI Express lied to me in order to pocket my $500.

I would not recommend GI Express.

Sad that a company does that to drivers for giving proper notice, you'd think if they wanted a driver to stay they wouldn't go screwing you over! I'll probably be considering GSTC, they still offered for me to come back a third time, even told me on my last day there that I was welcome back if I wanted.( the first time was for personal reasons). Now that the original owner of that company is back running it again, I'll probably take them up on their offer, if things don't work out here at prime.

Sounds a lot like someone else blew the ear end on that truck and they made you the scapegoat. Keep an eye on your DAC, and fight it if you have to. You may not get the 500$ back, but a false black mark on that record would cost more.

Good question.... I decided to go for Gstc, going back to hauling dry food grade, really good runs, I learned the original owner took the company back, cleaned house, and is returning the company back to its former glory...I was pissed at some of the things going on when I left, but it really impressed me that when I left last time I informed them of what I was frustrated about , and they listened, and even my dispatcher agreed, and they had been asking me ever since to come back. After seeing that the company is working to get things going again, and they have new accounts that pickup & deliver near where I live(primo good runs too! :) ), I figured its time I get the heck out of the mistake I made of going to prime inc. and decided to answer the call.... To be continued in the favorite companies area...

I quit driving for GIX in October of 2013 because I was ready for some home time. I was there for a year. I'm heading back up there in another couple of months as soon as my lease on my apartment is up here. When I quit, I had no problems. I gave my notice, got my escrow back, minus the small amount for damage that I know I did to the truck, but it evened out when I received my driver bonus points. I wasn't even aware that I was building money in a separate account for safe driving. I think they are a great company to work for. The pay could be better, but they do keep you running as long as you're willing to run, and are on time with your loads. They are a good group of people to work with and keep excellent care of their equipment to boot.
