Do you know if it's true that UPS drivers must join the Teamsters labor union in order to work there? I've heard FedEx is a great company to drive for...

Man, you got 4 years in FF and you want to start over? Ups pays well but FF pays almost as good. You got to ask yourself if you really want to start over on a seniority board?

UPS is union... Union means job security..(UPS isnt going ANYWHERE)

    With the union..Drivers enjoy

    1.Full Pension
2.Health insurance for entire family a affordable cost
    3.Real Vacation Time
4,Every Holiday Paid Plus double-time if scheduled
    5.uniforms

if he is still young...Yes its a wise decision to move over to UPS

Union also means you pay a healthy chunk of cash for dues that are often used to support a political agenda you might not even believe in! Since I know we can't get into politics on this forum, I will just leave it at that. However, as long as UPS a union shop, I would never drive for that outfit.

The key word he used was FREIGHT ... Not BROWN and there is a huge difference . UPS Freight is trying to bust the Union by putting on Owner Operators in the division called UPS Freight Suplemental . They gained a ton of leverage over their Union by doing so and got rights in the new contract to use owner operators on lanes if the trucks were branded UPSF . I'm pretty sure the unions of UPS and UPSF are different . I'd be sure I talked to a UPSF driver directly before I changed and started over just to find out I possibly made a huge mistake

yea..I pay $62.00 a month have death burial benefit a retirement that Is descent above average medical, dental ins. a set of rules that are laid out in black and white that are followed.sick days personal days great vacation, double time on holidays a seniority board that is followed...yea I wouldnt want to see anybody take a job represented by the teamsters...I guess if guys want to give free time missed opportunities because seniority is not followed poor retirement unfair compensation when working holidays etc......go ahead and pass up a union job but I think I will keep mine

I believe in union if the company is strong... like upsf I would do it. The only thing is is it takes 4 years to reach top pay scale and the starting rate is really low for a big company liks upsf. But cant beat the pension.. I enjoy driving but doing city delivery can be stressful. Fedex freight is decent paying but the operation isnt that smart example making residential deliveries with a 48foot van. (Not fun?.) Upsf is number one In freight and in parcels. Even though fedex is close to there pay scale about 2-3dollar hr difference... depending on area.

Yes, you pay dues which is tax deduct. which means, money back. You also have a PENSION to look forward too along with your 401k and any other investments you have and soc.sec. Think about it. You are worried about dues? You are really into picking up pennies and leaving the dollars. Don't worry, i'll pick up the dollars on your behalf...Thank you in advance
