Been following along the thread for awhile, and I just picked up my truck from Charlotte this past week. Running my first couple loads now to get me back home to where all my stuff is LOL.

I have to say, they're not a bad company to run for. Seem to have a lot of decent and level headed people here. I think I'm gonna enjoy it.

DFO, quick question... I know the cutoff time for loads in Monday at 2300, but when is the cutoff for fuel to be subtracted on the next check? Is it also on Monday?

Exactly, I'm using my maintenance account for PMs and other possible costs like a tire blowout and needing a roadside repair, etc.

Everything else I pay for out of pocket from my own funds that I manage myself. Not Schneider. The maintenance account being mandatory is stupid and I wish it wasn't required (I guess it isn't for everyone, but it was for me), but I'm sure its there because some morons thought they could run a business without any money for maintenance and then failed.

Glad to hear you picked a truck BTW CW. Sorry it sounds like the ops manager is being a tool.

I can't remember off the top of my head, sorry. I remember being slightly confused about the two different cutoff periods as well, I believe I remember Dipschitt talking about it somewhere, hopefully he'll see this and chime in because I think he knows.

Well left Carlisle today and headed up to Ohio for my pickup taking me down to my favorite trucking state of Georgia. Smooth sailing into the night, nobodys out cause its Sunday, I'm just cruisin' along at 60 MPH with my 10,000lb load, not a care in the world... and then I start seeing what I first thought was just tons of salt. It wasn't snowing. But I could hear it, it was fresh snow on the roads. Then it started snowing. Then a 4 wheeler slid into the median and got stuck. Then the roads went from just fine to yeah lets slow it down to 45 MPH.

So, didn't make it as far as I wanted to get tonight... sucks because nighttime weekends are THE BEST for trucking. Nobody around, all rest areas have room, easy going. But the roads were real nasty, the snow must have caught the DOT by surprise because they were not on top of it.

Drove for about an hour in it, but drivers headed north said it was only getting worse headed south, so I hit the rest area and decided to shut down. No point in wasting hours driving 40-45 MPH so it is what it is I guess, not to mention if the roads weren't going to improve it's probably in my best interest to stop before its too late.

I sucked it up and got on eBay and ordered the Cummins Inline adapter and software today. I got an older unit which ran around $350 by the time it was all shipped, but it will work just fine even though its not the latest and greatest. Tax deduction!! lol. With this unit and the software (that will go on my laptop) I can be able to do everything the shop can do at its $120/hour labor rate in terms of interfacing with the electronics on the engine, reading/testing sensor values, forced regens, etc., etc., etc. If I can use it to help improve my fuel mileage by doing some troubleshooting it will literally pay for itself in less than a week. We'll see how long it takes to ship from China and how may broken pieces it will arrive in.

I also finally got my internet working again, Millinecom finally got Sprint to release the ESN's on the USB modems, so I was able to get BMI (the new provider I transferred to when Millinecom and Sprint had their falling out) to add my modem to my account with them. I have this modem specifically because it supports 3G, 4G LTE and 4G WiMax giving me all the coverage options on Sprints network. Now I just need to mount my antenna somewhere on the truck and I'll be good to go. No more cell phone tethering, thank God.

Gonna hit the load board and see what I can plan ahead here. I am going to do everything I can to stay south for a bit. I am so sick and tired of this snow and miserable cold. Washed my truck yesterday and it looked brand new. Less than 24 hours later it looks like **** again.

I'll be at the Charlotte OC tomorrow night.

    Lonesome and Grijon Thank this.

Hey Captain, yeah pretty much both cutoff now a midnight. Just a heads up, this is the slowest time for freight here in Texas so don't get discouraged right away if you don't see something you like. There is still alot of freight on the board here just not as good quality. Come March thru Decemeber the load board gets crazy in Texas and frieght will not be a problem.Alot of SNI's customers in Texas book thier loads electronically and they won't post until the day before. Be patient and only book out several loads if they are quality otherwise wait. Stay away from Home Depot in Dallas as they tend to push out or cancel quite a bit. Good Luck.

Also try to buy your fuel at the QT's around the Dallas area, Normally beat our Deal at Pilot and FJ by .10-.20 a gallon and never buy fuel from the Dallas OC as they are always too high for the area. The loves in Wilmer off 45 is also a great place because they match the QT price and we get a extra.05 off a gallon at loves.
