Yep, try to book your loads through the weekends if you can beforehand because not much new will show up. Also, I try to book easy loads for the weekends, nothing that even remotely resembles trouble that I might have to attempt to contact someone during weekend shift on the phone. Good luck with that, lol. Its even more fun when you get disconnected after sitting on hold for 30 minutes.

Seriously though night running is fine for some people. Guys like moosc, atrucker, and I aren't cut out for it. I love running nights but I can't sleep during the day. I can nap, but that's it. After a few days stick a fork in me, I'm done.
As for he trailer hold button on the newer tractors it does NOT act Luke a trolley bar. Once you'be released the trailer breaks it does nothing. And IMO flipping the hold switch does nothing to help slide the tandems. If you're overpowering the spring breaks then something's wrong. -
I can run at night but no benefits to it. As trail switch it puts more pressure on the brakes then what u can do with break peddle. If you have issues sliding tandems and call mant they tell you do that first.

Dfo, remember you are the captain of your ship. I dont like running in the snow, so i try not to book loads that are going that way. You have to stay in your comfort zone. I see guys who will run all over united states. I like to stay with in 500 mi from home. Thats my comfort zone, i try to run the same route. I think your doing fine.

Are guys checking the weather as you book your loads? FYI, winter storm watch for Ohio for tomorrow night. 6-10 inches. Looks to be I-70 and above for now.

I check for weather on every load, even in the summertime. Helps with trip planning.

Yeah I try to avoid the big storms. Sometimes gotta deal with snow. Just going Columbia SC and wedged myself in the last open spot in the lot. Woo that was tight had to slide my tandems in the turn to get in. But all good, was determined to stop here so I can fuel here in the am, optimizer tells me to. Gonna start following that.
Stopped through Charlotte on the way down cause I wanted to wash the salt off my truck. Costs a little over 10 bucks for it to use the was at the OC. Good enough for getting the salt off. Then had to wait in express for an hour to get the damaged crank on the trailer replaced.
After delivery in GA headed to Richmond VA to deliver the next load then bobtailing home for the rest of the week. Plan to leave out next Monday. -
