Picked up a load in Crete NE, scaled at the shipper and drove further then I should have before double checking on a Cat scale. 990 lbs. difference in gross weight, and not in a good way.

Lowe's DC in North Vernon tends to Butt load trailers. Last time I was there while I was waiting for my PU info after making my drop, a 3 month Crete driver came over and said he was stretched all the way out for his 34k load to scale. I asked him where he was running and it was going thru Tennessee. He didn't know the bridge laws and didn't have a Motor Carrier Atlas. So I helped him set the tandems at 41' to "center of rear axle group" and rescale. Just to make sure he was scaling and mathing correctly. Sure enough he was well over on the tandems. So he reported to the shack and they put him in a door. Now I get my load info and grab my trailer. Only 35k. I am gonna go thru Tennessee as well. I was barely legal at the Tennessee standard. I never had one reworked at North Vernon but left there stretched out several times with 35k loads. Social Circle can be a Peach with weights as well. Had to refuse a couple Sams loads when I was with Knight cause they refused to rework loads. The one in Villa Rica, Ga was way over on the tandems and just gate guard on duty and the one in Charlotte was OVERGROSS! The only time so far I've had a shipper refuse to remove product on a load that was overgross on their own scales.
Onadetour Thanks this. -
these women in dispatch really need to find a husband, so they can quit and work in their kitchen. -
I had some nice weather today. Woke up at 0400 frozen solid but the ice had turned to rain. Later on it was 50*
I made it through Washington DC only losing 50 minutes. I had to pass my fuel solution to make on time in West Point. I was following another Creten down 95 then 64 then sure enough his blinker came on at my exit. He was going to the same place. He got unloaded first and got a preplan. Picking up down the road. I got mine and it was a pick up right there at RockTenn
He was heading to PA; back in to the ice and snow. Me? I'm heading to Cincy....where's it's just supposed to be cold.

I whined my way out of a 287 load with an extra stop off. It was a Walmart load out of North Platte and a floor load with 4 free hours before detention. As I'm not a day cab driver I saw it beneath me. Got a 500 some load to Colorado with an all day drop on Thursday, but the shipper was running behind so it wouldn't be ready til after my 14. Silly me I told dispatch after I dropped my trailer and went to the truckstop.
Now they can't have me sitting when they're overbooked with good freight, but alas my 14 is winding down and I can't pick this one load they need moved, she tells me I have 7 hours left to drive today, so I have time to go 170 mile to the shipper, but I have less than 4 left on my 14, have to get an empty trailer, plan the trip and the shipper Aint got overnight pArking.
i refuse the load again and tell her to stop the stupid nonsense, they reschedule the load to deliver Friday, so I accept.
If you're ever in Nebraska stop at exit 237. Great place -
Any pussycat minus cat could drive for Poly, driving for Crete is for real men
