Be aware when you send them your long form physical as they will not hire you if you are too big. I'm 6'3" 295 lbs and they turned me down. I'm in the process of filing a class action lawsuit and if you feel like this has happened to you? Let me know and I'll give you lawfirm name and number in Iowa that has agreed to represent us against Heartland Express.

I hit the thanks button because you're going after them.Wish more drivers would with other companies. But how do you know your size is the reason they didn't hire you?I have seen big guys drive for Heartland.

Hopefully they don't hire stud muffins either. That way there's no chance for me getting hired with that kind of company.

I bet that it has something to do with their Health Insurance policy that might have been changed the first of the year, or possibly getting changed and maybe something to do with CSA. If so, I will be willing to bet, a lawsuit that you will not win.

An Attorney would not take the case if he thought he would loose it! They don't work for free, Nor does their staff.

According to a BMI calculator, http://www.nhlbi.nih.gov/guidelines/obesity/BMI/bmicalc.htm your obese. A company has a right not to hire drivers they think cant do the job. Can you assist in loading and do it quickly if required at that weight? Things like ladders, steps, seat etc, are sometimes only rated for 250-300 pounds. If your weight will make their driver seat fail prematurely they can choose to not hire you. In the trucking industry, they can discriminate against weight since part of the job is physical. Things like slipping and falling while getting in and out of the truck are far more common with overweight people. Your a bigger insurance risk for them. They cant discriminate of you wont cost them more money, but unless its a medical condition making you over weight, your not protected by the Americans with disabilities act and thus they are not required to even provide reasonable accommodation to you. Now if you could prve you can get in and out of a truck just as fast and safely, assist in loading just as efficiently, and are just as healthy as someoen 100 pounds lighter you should be able to get the job. But, thats a lot to prove.

But, I've heard bad things about heartland..you prob dont want to work for them anyway.

The Americans with disability's act only protects overweight people if it is a illness causing it. fat because you eat to much is a choice and thus not protected. Its the same as smoking. Although addicting, it is a choose. I can choose to only hire non smokers if I don't want smoke in my truck.

    VaGump and CYCO Thank this.
