I have had physicals three times now, and each time the doctor/nurse would whisper something behind me and I had to repeat what they said. One time I said I could not make it out and they repeated it louder. I think nothing to worry about unless you really need a hearing aide, and if you do need a hearing aide you should get one, in my short time on the truck I noticed two air leaks in trailers... so I think good hearing is important for drivers.

The doctor stands behind you off to the side and whispers. Then it is repeated on the other side of your head. Its usually a loud whisper.

    How did you test it?

With a manual digital meter or an automatic one?

Did you get it checked by your doctor's office staff to see if it is accurate?

I had one that I used for a long time and found out that it was off, it was 20 points too high.

Any Doctor worth his salt will re-check your high reading almost immediately to make sure it really is high. You do need to be relaxed for a few minutes before the reading. Normally early morning readings are the lowest.

First, RELAX, do not stress the small stuff. You are passing it 75 percent of the time. They will test you multiple times also. They want you to pass.

Do the good health stuff. Start walking fast for at least 30 minutes. Make sure there are some hills in there. Do it every day. It will help if you use the same route so when your my age you won't get lost all the time.

    Drink water.

When you get to the test, just picture yourself having already past this part of the test. Relax.

Oh, and avoid sex. If you are married that should be easy.

The DOT Certified Medical Examiner is required to take at least 2 blood pressure readings to confirm. If you have a reading above 140/90, then just ask to lay down for about 15 minutes and then have it re-checked. It is common for most people to suffer from "white coat syndrome" and elevate the blood pressure. If your BP should happen to be above 140/90, but less than 159/99, the doctor could give you a one time 3 month medical card. You would need to have a BP reading below 140/90 to then be re-certified and it would be for only one year.
