I can relate to this...I have managed 4 different trucking websites over my years of interneting, and the stress alone, you have to wonder is this all worth it?

My opinion is that if we helped one person, it's worth it! Someone got something out of this place, that we all had a part in.
    That means alot to me.

All I am going to say is I am one of the newbies who come here researching and looking for advice. I ain't even started driving school yet I'm that new, but in about a month I will have to pick a company for my first job and real on-the-road training.

I am an example of the ones you veterans and site mods are trying to reach and to help. I don't really know one company from another, other than the trucks I see on the road and whatever company line a recruiter coming to the school is going to give us.

Bickering and childish name calling only muddies up the water more making it harder for me and other newbies to find the real truths we need.

But I am still thankful that this forum exists because it's the next best thing to chatting up drivers in truck stops.

I have been driving for about 5 months but been around it my hole life driving is in my family. I got realy lucky I have friends that all whent and drove for some of the worst places that are listed on here so I just whent and got my cdl on my own and started looking for a place that would give me a chance I had a lot of disapontment at first. Most wont even consider unless you have 3-5years already I finaly got a brake at a realy good company that my dad works for he has been there 26 years I went and talked to them and told them I wanted to drive and do the best I can for them so they had me go out and do a driving test and I did just fine and they gave a part time job to get started and see how I do now after 3.5 months I am full time and I am home every day and I just tell every one that wants to drive take your time and talk to some companies and it will work out for the best. when I went and talked to the company I talked to the maniger and my boss I have now and deal with daily open door policy and it is great money and benifits. I was told never trust a recruter they will tell you what you want to get you in the door. good luck to any one just starting out take your time and find the best you can find :biggrin_25525:

... One suggestion here. I just finished school in Dec. I just took my road test yesterday for USF GM. I had to pull a loaded trailer with about 41,000 lbs on it. I thought my technical college training was great up until yesterday. In school, we only pulled empty trailers. I will tell you even though I used to pull full trailers back in 1983, it was quite a new feeling pulling that loaded trailer yesterday. My point is, try to find a school that will have you pulling trailers with a load. There is a huge difference in the two scenarios!
    Just my 2 pennies anyway.:yes2557:

That is good food for thought. I'm already signed up and financed to go to Roadmaster in Columbus, OH on the 7th though. Guess I'll have to ask about having a load on the truck.
