Do you guys driving local routes or relaying LTL ever get bored? It seems like you're driving the same roads and highways and hitting the same docks day after day? I thought about doing some local driving for a little while to get more city driving experience and more practice hitting docks but I'd feel I would become bored. Heck I get bored running western 11 sometimes and feel the need to get a load to the northeast just to scratch my itch.

Try to find something local that doesn't go to the same job sites all the time.
I do a normal route on the last 3 days of the work week, but Monday/Tuesdays are always changing. Makes my life as a driver tolerable at-least.
All in all, local, regional and OTR has trade offs. -
I know all too well about boredom. When I drove for KB,same route day after day.Job was way too routine. It was all drop and hook.Pick up mt from Tyson take it to another Tyson 90 miles and pick up loaded trl take it back to the other Tyson. It wouldn't have been so bad if the trk weren't governed at 57.Took 4.50 per round.

Mine local is same thing every day. Same people same time same game. But every now and then I would ask them to put me running over donner for a few days when the weather is bad to get some snow fun in. I run from sac to Fresno 5 days a week gets boring and dry. So reno route is complete opposite which is nice in winter

You guys haven't been driving long enough to be bored. Man up, if your already bored you'll never make it long enough to call it a career

I liked running city P&D for Big R. I had mostly the same customers every week. Most of the places I went we all got along real well. This was back before cell phones had to call in each stop on office phone, or dispatch would call a stop ahed of your route for you to call them. You could call some stops and have lunch waiting from the office staff and pay them when you arrived. I hade many great customers and verry few who were not. To sum it up I liked doing the same routes all the time.

I hate it. But it fills up my bank account and I have my weekends.
Moving Forward, xlsdraw, road_runner and 3 others Thank this. -
I'm OTR 48 states and Canada. Sitting at a truck stop. I'm bored.

Since I got moved into a live floor truck it's even better, for instance yesterday I got sent way out into a rural area to deliver a load of sawdust to a farm.
Even if I end up doing the same thing daily for a while going home every night and having weekends off makes it well worth it at least for me anyway.
