I quit SNI last year. I'll make a few comments and try to be fair. I still drive a little, going out on short trips for a local company---when I feel like it and want the extra money. I like seeing my family now. I like sleeping in my own bed. I like getting paid for my time. I was a company driver for SNI. I tried a dedicated route with SNI. I tried System. I tried Homerun. The DBLs were decent for the most part. The company was honest for the most part. The problem lies partly with SNI management, and partly with the way the trucking industry runs in general. I've never been a member of a union, but this is an industry that needs unionization desperately. To state things simply, SNI is cheap but honest. They care about safety more than they care about driver comfort. I consider my time with SNI as a sacrifice. It is true that sitting behind the wheel on the open road is enjoyable, especially with a good audiobook. These moments are fewer than a newbie might anticipate though. My advice to someone considering a driving career would be to avoid it if at all possible. Driving was at times, a living hell for me. Glad to be done. I do appreciate being able to feed my family during hard economic times. I give SNI credit for that. I would say that there are a few people, very few, who will love driving.

18 years and I still love it. Even more now that every one moved out of the house. It's a life style change. You sacrifice a lot your family needs to understand that. You may not b home for those special days. But I say this today's drivers just like our solders have it easier today. Video chat is so much better then sitting in a phone booth dropping quarters hoping you don't loose the call.
