Over speed is basically 3 MPH over your governed speed for a sustained period of time with your foot in the throttle. The only way you can exceed the governed speed is to let gravity push you. At that point the trailer is pushing you, you are no longer pulling the trailer and are giving up your control of the truck.

A word of warning, do it once, Swift will slap your hand. Make habit of it and they will terminate you.

    Yes.
You are governed to a certain speed.
If you can't maintain that speed within certain limits they consider you out of control of the vehicle.

As it is such a big deal to them, and as you gain very little time by speeding going downhill, it seems best just to control your speed - which is not that difficult.

And it has NOTHING to do with the posted speed limit!

Ok see here is my problem , going down hill in traffic , truck behind me all I can see are mirrors and a trailer . If I hit my brakes . A. I am either gonna get hit because the person Is following to close .
    B. They are gonna think I am brake checking them and we all know what that is gonna cause .

Last time I checked I don't need a baby sitter . I made it this far on my own .
and no offence , but if you are outta control at 3mph over the governed speed . You should not be in a 80,000 lb vehicle in the first ####### place ..
and if you have to be warned about low clearances . Well you know what I am gonna say .
that one really made me laugh..:biggrin_25514:

I think everyone got that message... Instead of live safety meetings I think we are having to do videos... I as the second driver didn't have the overspend video, but I do have to take the hazmat thing... Which we did on home time without putting ourselves on duty... Shhh don't tell!

Yeah, I got that message a few times today... Oops? So what you're saying is... take foot off throttle and fly? Gotcha.

Maybe they should have thought to explain THEIR policies BEFORE the official switch and these ####### videos. I'm sitting in GA right now but I'm out of hours and can't get over there until the morning, hopefully they don't have a #### heart attack and if they do screw them, I'm not stopping to watch a video while under load.

If I wanted someone to nag me I'd work an office job or get married.

btw Klingon, I didn't mean to ignore you. I was talking to my trainer and she mentioned it while we were engaged in a lengthy venting session. She'd just got done talking to her peeps at the SLC terminal. You might be right, you know how truckers exaggerate.

I'm pleased to announce I might actually be getting a real pay next check. I actually got some miles in. Me and my new baby are really bonding, I'd hate to have to turn in her keys.

Oh and as for scales and what not, I haven't had an issue since the switch. Tractor and Reefer fuel, additives, DEF, scales... Everything is working.

What is this Hazmat thing btw? Is it a test or something we have to read?

The Qualcomm nagged at me earlier about it right after the overspeed video message.
