My cousin was working for us one summer and filled our gas pickup with diesel (everything on the job including lawn mowers were diesel except this pickup. After it died and we figured out what happened we asked how'd you get the diesel nozzle to fit. He said yeah that was kinda hard. Ohh well. Diesel on gas no problems. Just drain and refill. Now gas in diesel not so much. Will run like a raped ape till she blows

I fueled up at Loves in Davenport Iowa the other day and it was the first time I had to add DEF. I fueled the tractor and while it was filling I took the cap off the DEF tank. I saw how small the filler hole was. When the diesel was done I had the filler nozzle in my hand and hit the DEF button. I thought it was strange they would dispense from the same nozzle but I didn't see any other nozzles. Looking at the filler hole I knew it couldn't be the same. Lo and behold behind the grungy plastic flap lives a other nozzle! So I got it right, no problem. But I do understand how you could be confused. One whiff of that DEF and you know it's a whole different product than diesel is......
Hope your situation works out ok!!

My guess is the OP ignored everything the company had told him about DEF because none of the trucks he drove before this one used it.
